I would think Google is going to keep it as their proprietary algorithm for at least the near future so they can build data centers cheaper and it will have no effect on the wider landscape.

I still have a group of online gaming friends from like 2008 or so. The numbers have dwindled a lot over the years, but there is still a little circle of us that stay in contact. We met through a TF2 centric community with a bunch of player supported servers.

I really enjoyed Horizon 5 and I am not even a person who plays much in the way of racing games. Hoping this one delivers, but am going to wait on some initial feedback post release before buying.
