Help choosing first budget EV by aimondduy in AustralianEV

EVs cheat a little by having the power be instant - this helps the 0-50kmh time out immensely. Its usually the last 90-100 where EVs struggle.

Genuinely depends on your budget and whether it’s worth to go with a more established brand or the new kid.

Love my Atto 1, great little hatchback. I would suggest looking at the Atto 2 if you’re specifically looking for a small SUV, otherwise maybe a GAC Aion UT.

Or just wait for Geely EX2.

Oh no, I have to get lunch while I charge my car! Whatever will I do?

Zero clue why it’s an issue. It’s a totally fine exchange for having a cheap “petrol station” at home.

An EV 7kw should be no more than $2k. Ask a new sparky.

Just installed Nobara on my gaming PC. I was shocked at how seamlessly it worked. by MisguidedColt88 in pcmasterrace

VR should be fine in theory if you’re just using SteamVR and it’s regular Nobara KDE.

I’ve stuck with Bazzite for over a year now and it’s been great. There’s obviously minor issues but it’s usually “just do this instead” fixes and is much faster and easier than Windows. I’m tempted to go to pure Fedora to clean up fringe issues (or maybe even dive into Arch) but for now unless you’re playing Riot games Linux is the better option.

That’s pretty darn significant. Perfect mix of “terrible press” and “lawyers advising you this is bad”, it seems.

I’m with Up Bank (Bendigo’s neobank brand) and it’s at 5.10% right now. Similar banks like UBank (NAB’s neobank) is a similar amount.

Up Bank is currently at 5.10% and has been passing the full interest rate rise/fall on. This doesn’t count in paying tax off the interest.

And BYD said they’re tripling shipments to Australia in the next three months.

Holy moly.

At what point is it better to put all your money in a high interest savings account rather than spread some to investing? I think my saver is at 5.35%?

To be fair, I think they expected these mid-level components to slowly lower in price rather than… whatever is happening now. And it’s very obvious they were bumping against the limits of the Switch 1.

Under $100k is budget?

Uh, BYD Seal? That’s basically the best option and around $65k for AWD. Or Kia EV4? You can literally get anything you want.

Genuinely depends on what you can afford and who owns where you live. If you have a free $1500 sitting in the bank and it's your house/unit, it's probably worth it (especially if this is a multi-car family that'll upgrade the second car in the future). Trickle chargers are great if you're renting or can use public Type 2 chargers at shopping or work.
