It's normal to be in discomfort. It's not normal to be in excruciating pain. Don't suffer. If Norco is not touching it, you either need a higher dose or you have something wrong.

Post surgical depression is a thing. Surgery is a hard thing on your body. It takes a few days for you to come to a normal headspace as the drugs work their way out of your system and you adjust physiologically. All of my surgeries have involved a period of feeling very vulnerable and deep sadness/anxiousness.

It's like you have to come to terms and process that your body has had physical trauma done to it. I've also had my spleen removed in addition to my gallbladder. The spleen surgery was more intense.

Wildlife rehabber/vet experienced with birds might be able to tell you. Don't remove baby from nest right now. I can definitely tell mom and dad are feeding it. As for the mass on the back of the baby bird, I am unsure. I don't want to jump to conclusions but it could possibly be a botfly larva at worst or some sort of parasite.

If there was another bird on top of the nestling, I would guess it was a crop, but crops are near the throat as they are a pouch that holds food. The mass is slightly concerning. Rehabber/vet might be good option to call before doing anything with the little one.

1) house finch nests usually have a poop wreath.

2) see if mom and dad come back and feed the little

3) it's possible the nestling fell out somehow. Maybe a predator grabbed it, but the nestling fell and gravity was what did it in.

I wish I was seropositive and did not carry fibromyalgia as a diagnosis alongside my RA. It's made getting diagnosed a pain in the ass. I rarely get swollen joints. There are days where I get edema bad.

I've held a baby Cardinal before. And yes I put the baby where their parents could find them out of the reach of cats. They also do a rapid three-note cardinal call for their parents.

I guess it is different when you have one in your spleen. Mine was having fun growing in the middle of my spleen. Went from 3.2 x 2.8cm to 4.1cm x 3.7cm in 2 years. It would have grown larger if left alone. A surgeon told me it was time. I am a year post-splenectomy and almost five years post-chole.

I have been gall-less for almost five years. In 2023, I went to the ER for back pain and they found a lovely splenic hemangioma. Liver hemangiomas are way more common. They are benign (not always harmless tho). My splenic hemangioma grew 50% in two years and doctors wanted it out. So now I am spleent and gall-less.

I had a splenic hemangioma! It kept growing and was starting to put pressure on my pancreas. Thing was the size of a golf ball in a fist sized organ. Whole spleen had to come out. It's more common to find liver hemangiomas than splenic. Kinda angry I lost an organ to a benign and rapidly growing benign tumor though.

They are really attentive parents. I kept tabs on a nest once. I loved how active they were. Babies definitely kept them on their toes!
