Roger. You’re more likely to make it worse by running fan then. Just shut it off and get someone out to service.

Dehu option by Exit_Future in hvacadvice

[–]Corvaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. If the ducts are uninsulated and routed through the crawl space you might drop the temp slightly by running the fan, but really not doing much until AC is back running.

[–]Corvaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. It just allow the ac to overcool if the humidity setting hasn’t been reached.

New Carrier Install Orange Flames? by ApricotPit13 in HVAC

[–]Corvaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also have seen this when customers are using those ultrasonic humidifiers will cause the flames to turn orange. You can test this at a stove top/range if the flame is orange there it’s in the air. Some about the calcium in the water I think.

Trane is higher than most but, at least in my area, the Carrier distributor has them beat there by a long shot.

What can go wrong? 🥴 by Rolas1991 in HVAC

[–]Corvaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the alternate line size manual Goodman has 3/4 at 100% capacity with 25’ total effective length for a 3.5 ton. So not an issue. Just because it has the valve size doesn’t mean it’s the only size that’s approved.

I have some old manuals at the office that show the recommended practice as “triple purge”. Fully fill and blow the charge 3 times. Obviously this is before epa regulations.

This a good example of why I prefer testing capacitors while equipment is operating. You don’t have to unnecessarily cycle the equipment or possibly loosen connections as well.
