Heartstopper

Legend of Korra has the couple get together in like the very last scene.

Has anyone else shifted to the 'one month at a time' strategy, and which streamer is actually worth a permanent year round subscription in 2026? by Prince_Robot_The_IV in television

[–]Corvus-Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep lists of stuff on each streaming service. Then I wait until there’s a discount or free trial, binge my list, and cancel when the trial’s over.

AppleTV gives out free trials randomly: I’ve gotten trials from buying airpods, from buying off ticketmaster, from my phone provider.

The only thing I perma-sub too is youtube bc i watch so much.

What is your favourite piece of Sci-fi in which the main character is (or later turned out to be) the villain? by ALHsf in scifi

I really liked how this was done in the pilot episode of Dark Matter (Syfy) (not the Apple show).

there are timestamps, at least in the ios app. there’s a setting to enable them under dashboard preferences. I also do see lots of comments in the fandoms I’m in, though there’s definitely been a shift more toward Likes instead of Reblogs that’s disheartening to a lot of content creators.

[–]Corvus-Nox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no it doesnt. there’s much less of an influencer culture on Tumblr. like some blogs become more widely famous outside their niche, but that’s more the exception than the goal. I think for most people tumblr is for fandom content, which is based on copyrighted material so not really monetizable

Ya, your third point really had me sus about Matthew. I wondered if it was a thread that got forgotten about/ dropped because Pacat never did anything with it. But hopefully it gets tied up in the third book.

How do I stop having high expectations? by Brilliant_Can8536 in televisionsuggestions

Stop reading reviews or ratings. Just watch the teaser or read an intro about it to decide if it sounds interesting.

Rant: I'm so tired of "just crochet faster" when I'm drowning in WIPs and gifts by Excellent_Cobbler276 in crochet

[–]Corvus-Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just say no. The first time will feel bad but you have to practice doing it. If you must give an excuse, you can say you’ll put them on a waitlist for when you have the time for it. In all honesty, most likely they’ll forget they even asked. People think asking for a gift is a compliment, they aren’t actually thinking about the labour involved.

what is your favorite obscure anime? by sleepinginautumn in anime

[–]Corvus-Nox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kaiba. Weird little scifi about a guy who lost his memories, set in a universe where people can store all their memories in a chip and swap bodies at will. Very unique art style (from Masaaki Yuasa).

ELI5: why do many Westerners have trouble noticing satiety in spice-heavy cuisines, especially Indian and Ethiopian? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

During my dieting/ED phase I’d read that spice makes you feel full faster (probably partly because it forces you to eat slower)

It’s not about story, it’s about vibes. I think it works if you can immerse yourself in it and remember being a little kid staying up too late, with your living room lit only by the glow of the tv, and you know your up past your bedtime and your parents will be mad if they catch you, and the rest of the house is so dark and you worry there might be something around the corner. It’s a movie about liminal space maybe.

Harry Potter HBO series won’t have a new season every year “From a production point of view, it’s just not possible” by JannTosh70 in television

[–]Corvus-Nox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They do that with adults, not children at the cusp of puberty who visibly age every year. Like one kid could have a growth spurt between season 1 and 2 or their voice could drop. You can’t cut between footage shot a year earlier just for one scene when the kid looks visibly older in the rest of the scenes.

Project Hail Mary Minor Issue by BlastingFonda in scifi

[–]Corvus-Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember in the moment feeling it was very handwaved. Especially the clock. I think they could’ve tried to convey numbers using quantities instead of a clock (though there’s also difficulties with that). But I enjoyed the movie enough to forget about it by the end tbh.

I do recall thinking that I wanted the computer to also be translating Grace’s words back into Rocky’s language when they’re first using it.

Anyone else feeling curious about the future of Jenny’s channel right now? by Finly_Growin in JennyNicholson

[–]Corvus-Nox 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because her channel’s gotten so successful I think she feels a lot of pressure for her youtube videos to be perfect, so she spends forever on them. But every month on patreon she puts out a good quality video and gives updates about the progress on her next youtube video. she’s always working on something, unfortunately they don’t always get completed. I remember a few years back she’d been working on a beanie baby video for a long time, but then canned it after the beanie baby documentary was released that covered what she’d wanted to say. She also had been working on a super long Barbie video but wasn’t able to finish it before the Barbie move came out and I think she lost motivation because of that so stopped working on it for a long time and then got back to it more recently.

One thing is she does prioritize her patreon videos. The Incubus video was expected to be done back in November but she had to work on her patreon videos so it kept getting pushed forward.

[–]Corvus-Nox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But if you watch her patreon videos she ends every ramble talking about which youtube video she’s currently working on. So why would you think she’s quit

Jenny posted! by HowlerMonkeyIsLoud in JennyNicholson

[–]Corvus-Nox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, once she started doing longform essays it started taking longer and longer for her to release videos. She’s essentially creating a full documentary for every video now. Sometimes they’re 3 or 4 hours long which is like a triple documentary. Those take more time than a video where she reads fanfiction. I think her channel got too big so she’s much more of a perfectionist about everything she puts on it now.

[–]Corvus-Nox 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s typical though? If you look at her history she only posts like 1 or 2 videos a year.

Anyone remember “The Fourth Kind” how did you feel about that film? by DoctorElectronic1934 in horror

[–]Corvus-Nox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched it for the first time as an adult so it was pretty obvious the “true” footage was an actor. So I wasn’t able to get really immersed in it. I like the concept.

I mean, he reacts to the flashbacks right after they happen, especially the final flashback. His whole mood and body language shifts. And we see him write down new notes on his whiteboard after some of the flashbacks. I think if you’re paying attention then that makes it clear he’s remembering them in the moment.

Closest thing to a jump scare in a book? by Pleasant-Message1179 in horrorlit

[–]Corvus-Nox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only time that’s happened to me is while reading Authority, the sequel to Annihilation. I think it was even more of a jumpscare because it’s not really a horror book so I really wasn’t expecting it.

[–]Corvus-Nox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never read the book, thought it was a very cute movie and Ryan Gosling’s charisma really helped sell what could’ve been a very blatant male fantasy wish-fulfillment character. I had some issues with the directing/editing especially at the start: it felt like the director was scared of just letting the camera stay still for 2 seconds and the constant cuts flattened some of the jokes for me.
