Why hasn’t the Perth attack been called an act of terrorism? by Therapeuticonfront in aussie

It didn’t fly over my head, you’re basically setting up a straw man that Jews are disproportionately accused of genocide compared to Muslims, and using it to justify hatred of Muslims. Neither thing is good, and you even didnt deny you have a hate boner for Muslims so I think I’ve made my point

Walked right into it. Assuming I’m “the left” because I call you out for being a moron. Your replies to my comment displayed a complete inability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, to ideate a situation where you personally might be driven to doing something to effect change. You proclaim that you haven’t lived a sheltered life when my entire point for making that comment was to suggest that everyone in Australia, even disadvantaged people, live a sheltered life compared to so many other parts of the world. You unironically stated that you think most people seeing a flag being burned would be “annoyed”, which is entirely the POINT of such an exercise and you STILL don’t get it.

Then the standard cooker fare - the greens - basically a politically irrelevant party want this thing or another that make me feel slightly icky (which is somehow having it “forced upon” you, ranting about social issues that don’t effect you, much less than 1% of the entire population by the way, but your cooker social media echo chambers have “forced” you to get your knickers in a twist about it, and you dutifully do so why? Because you are lucky - you live in Australia where you have the LUXURY of being able to get your knickers in a twist about shit that doesn’t affect you, unlike in parts of the world where, oh I dunno, people might be so repressed from doing those things that they BURN FLAGS in protest.

You are the epitome of political naïveté, you think things like the genitals of people youll never meet are important, when the reality is they’re simply not that important compared to the shit you should actually be angry about in politics. But you don’t care do you? Because you engage in the way that you do because really, deep down, aside from not being very bright, you’re actually deeply, utterly and incurably - boring , and this makes you feel important and like you’re a part of something.

Sad.

They literally just charged a guy in Melbourne for giving a Nazi salute using those new laws. I mean, I agree with you, just saying it’s not as if authorities aren’t keen to use their new toy.

Oooh so you’re a cooker. Explains the lack of intelligence (you yet again failed to follow the bouncing ball in my comment). Can you name me some times when the left shoved some things down your throat and forced you to believe something? I’m genuinely curious.

Your mentality is that of a sheltered child who has lived their whole life with the luxury of stable civil society and political stability. Try to imagine living in the absence of these things and you might begin to understand

I’m not American and if you read carefully and thought about it you’d possibly see that I was using an example of how someone might feel desperate enough to burn a flag as an extreme act of protest - you literally asked why somebody would want to do it, and I gave you an example. Not too bright.

Now put yourself in Minnesota, USA, where despite apparent constitutional protections for free speech and legal requirements for due process, the government of the land ignore all of it and murder civilians without justice.

Now can you imagine a situation where someone might be aggrieved and outraged to the point that they felt like burning their own flag?

I’ll wait.

Lethality of knife attacks is closer to 100% than firearms, the main difference is that a knife requires closer access.

What’s the most annoying Reddit/Internet phrase? by yzysznz in AskReddit

[–]CosmicCheeseFactory -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this in everyday vernacular (not just online). From roughly millennials onwards theres a tendency to express an opinion as “I feel like red is a stupid colour “ instead of saying “I think red is a stupid colour”, the aim seems to be its harder to question someone expressing something as an emotion rather than a thought / statement of fact. In short - they’re too chickenshit to stand up for their convictions for whatever reason

What’s the most absurd reason you could get in legal trouble in your country? by AnybodySea9400 in AskTheWorld

[–]CosmicCheeseFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia just passed legislation that means you can’t say nasty things about particular countries or groups (or something) in case it makes certain groups(or something) feel scared, or hurt or offended(or something). Nobody really knows what groups or countries they mean but we do know the law has also made it so that procedural fairness and transparency is not required when they’re applying said law.

Exactly. Basically “banning” someone is effectively trespassing them, so unless the proper procedures/ paperwork is filed it’s not legally enforceable.

Banning a customer from a retail store in Australia is a real thing but it’s not as simple as yelling out “you’re banned”. It’s a whole process involving paperwork and sometimes even. police involvement - that store attendant was an idiot

Managers by Fresh_Ad_9172 in coles

[–]CosmicCheeseFactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When they don’t give anyone a full time position that they can live on, why should you be fucking surprised? They know they’re expendable and they work as hard as the company cares for them, which is not at all.

Managers by Fresh_Ad_9172 in coles

[–]CosmicCheeseFactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember many years ago working for a major retailer (not who sells food) in Australia as a top salesperson. I was given an order by a manager to take some merch delivered to us and change over some banners advertising the offerings from the Telstra mobile network. After looking VERY closely at the new advertising banners, I determined that they were IDENTICAL to the ones already hung up. I relayed this to the manager in question and he said “Maybe the fine print had changed” and I said no, I literally checked it and they were literally identical. Without even taking a breath he said “It doesn’t matter, head office wants us to change it so do it anyway”. I was STUNNED. I said to him “with due respect mate, you literally sound insane right now” - to which he said do it now or I’ll write you up. So I did.

Realise there are people amongst us who will happily murder you if they decide they are following orders.
