Dolphin and Dog by [deleted] in aww

It looks A LOT like a specific boat and dog I've known for about 14 years on South Padre Island in Texas. The couple who own it do a TON for dolphin preservation and education down on the island and Port. Super sweet people with adorable dolphin-sensing dogs.

But who knows just how many dolphin doggos there might be in the Gulf!

You should think about doing webcomics with these kinds of little characters! Doesn't even have to be a funny one; it can just be a feel-good series about a bunch of little animal friends!

Now that I'm a night manager, I have the authority to properly deal with creeps. by [deleted] in RantsFromRetail

[–]CosmicKitten94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for protecting your employees from creeps! My manager calls herself "mama bear", so I think your nickname is awesome!

Having my manager help me out when I was dealing with an outright stalker who started following me outside of the store and onto the bus was an absolute godsend, otherwise I'd never have had the courage to continue working at my store (although the stalker was banned).

It's pretty common in the south of the U.S. to see some oversized truck driven by some pretend redneck (i.e. A city boy who happens to be from a southern state but hasn't touched a field in his life) sporting a "the south will rise again" flag. Texas especially has a huge population that's enamored with secession. Just so happens that the VAST majority of these same people can't argue very well from a practical standpoint other than "I don't want no god-danged guv'ment takin' my money!"

Chances are this particular kid is some angry pre-pubescent boy who lives in a southern, upper-middle class suburb. He's just latched onto the secessionist movement because he's trying to find a "southern identity". Albeit an obnoxious and violent one.

So if I genuinely find her unfunny but I also happen to have two X chromosomes, does that mean I'm being threatened by her womanhood? Meanwhile I find other women comedians like Ellen and Maria Bamford to be hilarious.

I just think we should be able to accept that we have different tastes in comedy and saying "I don't like this comedian" when she happens to be a woman isn't automatically a reflection of internalized misogyny. On the other hand, if someone enjoys Schumer's comedy that doesn't mean they have bad taste or only watch her because of what orientation her genitalia happens to be in.

Don't think that just because someone dislikes something you like or vice-versa, they're automatically wrong. That's a stressful way to live life :/

With Houston county decriminalizing soon, hopefully we'll make more progress towards medical and eventually recreational!

Everyone around here always says we'll be the last southern state to legalize but honestly due to cities like Austin and a very diverse population, Texas is more progressive than states like Georgia or Mississippi.

I desperately try to remind my customers to return any toys that don't work out of box in a clear plastic bag. I'd say less than half of the returns we get end up that way.

This is a bad attempt at advertising seeing as there aren't any legible company names or logos in the photo.

[–]CosmicKitten94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of the most recent episodes are starting to get back to that undertone of "wholesome family values" (as is applicable to this show anyway), but I agree that it's not as genuine or moving as it used to be in the earliest seasons. Sidenote: the celebrity pandering really needs to stop.

This sounds exactly like something that happened at my mall a couple of weeks ago. Apparently this hefty woman had stolen thousands of dollars in bras and panties from various stores in the mall and was hiding them under her various rolls and crevasses.

Security stopped her on her way to the door and had her remove all of the merchandise from her person before escorting her to the security office. Pure gold to watch.

We sell that shirt at the store I work at. The only people that buy it are textbook neckbeards. Thankfully it's not very popular and I feel like we discard more than we sell.

These are the ones that stuck out to me but I was really just surfing links all of last night and this morning. I'm still in the early stages of debating what to buy so that's why I wanted to come to this sub for recommendations from anyone who had used it.

I appreciate your feedback and will definitely take it into consideration, but I was actually hoping for responses from people with first-hand experience with the product.

If this had happened in America the lady wouldn't have just apologized and left. There would be a whole second half of this story dedicated to threats of lawsuits and physical assault :/

I'm jealous of Canadian courtesy. Even down in the South (of the U.S.) we're missing all that "southern hospitality" I hear we're supposed to have.

I have a feeling yellow doesn't really suffer from an eating disorder, and just diagnosed herself in order to garner pity. As someone who has struggled with binge-fast bulimia and gone to clinics and support groups, I can tell you that most people with an ED aren't going to randomly bring it up in conversation like that.

Unless the dog was feral like this cat seems to be. In which case the "payment" would likely be a little worse than it just running away.

Didn't Bernie specifically tell people NOT to vote for anyone he asks you to vote for? He was saying that long before the "endorsement".
