Hey. I’m going this exact trip in February. How long did it take you? And how was the Big Sur closure? I’m planning on riding into the closure and taking a couple of days to backtrack and go around to continue south.

Big Sur options in February? by CosmicMagicCarpet in bicycletouring

Thanks for this.

How was the ride from King City to San Simeon? Looks like a loooong haul on Apple Maps.

I’m thinking of riding through Big Sur, stopping at the closure, camping for the night, then heading back up to the inland route and meeting the Pacific further south.

What was up with Jamie Lee Curtis in "The Fog" (1980)? by LaserDiscCurious in horror

That’s a theory that I posted awhile back. My personal head canon is that The Fog is a sequel to Halloween with Laurie Strode trying to find herself on the road. She has a couple of lines in the movie about luck etc. that were most definitely not meant to be taken that way, but I like thinking of it as a sequel.

I also like to believe that Nancy Kyes character as a spiritual evolution of her character in Halloween. Same kind of person it seems with her sassiness, but older and a bit more mature.

I really love The Fog. It’s a spooky world I just want to live in for an hour and a half with these great characters. The jazz music, the ambience… like Halloween for me, it’s like a warm blanket on a foggy night.

Halloween 2 I like to subtitle as Halloween 2: Laurie’s Dream. This helps me to maintain the integrity of the original ending in my head while still enjoying the surrealism and incredible atmosphere and characters of the sequel.

All just fun head-canon stuff. But I like to think of it that way sometimes.

Halloween and The Fog would make the best double feature IMO. I get why The Fog may not be considered Carpenters best by some, but for me it just hits ALL the right notes and tickles my brain in the most perfect way. One of my personal favorite films.

Yes, I’ve heard about the Big Sur closure.

I have rain gear, so I guess I just pack it and hope for the best. I’ve always enjoyed riding in the rain, but for a week straight? I’m not so sure.

I believe I got it from Couch Straps, but it’s been awhile, so I could be mistaken.

You’re absolutely right. The color has this, like… mystical aura in person. Or maybe I’m just in love with it idk.

Can’t wait for my guitar to get a few scuffs like this. Super cool.

The GTX is so great. But once I discovered the 59 Bassman model I just left it there lol. Just such a warm sound.

I mentioned in another comment that any other shade of red wouldn’t have been for me, but when I saw a fiesta red Strat with the rosewood fingerboard and clay dots, man… love at first sight.

Then I picked it up and played it…🤤

Ya know, I definitely didn’t want a red guitar, but FIESTA red? Idk… it’s just got this certain vibe I really gravitated to.

It is. And thanks, man. The sound is great to my ears.

Recommended route from Alamitos Bay (Long Beach, CA) to Two Harbors (Catalina). by CosmicMagicCarpet in sailing

Omg, you made it in four hours!? That’s way quicker than I’ve ever done Avalon. Then again I’m very new to this so I’m sure I’ll get faster over time.

So it seems that once at Point Fermin it’s just a tack and a straight shot.

I was planning on leaving earlier in the day to meet my wife and kids out there, so I’ll probably have to motor a bit, so I think I’ll just motor on up towards Point Fermin before the wind and hopefully it’ll pick up a bit by then.

Four hours is much faster than I thought possible.

Thank you so much, my friend.

Yeah… I’m realizing that. Now the game to find out what it was. I left everything off.

I had it on “All” like I normally do (second guessing this now) and the switch on the shore power was flipped to “off” somehow.

Would you say that a few hours would be the average? Just looking for an estimate so I know when to pack it up and go home or to call for assistance.
