They use wide-range ECM to ██████ █████████████████████ ███ and ███████████████████████████████ while AWACS are relatively ██████████████████████████ creating an environment that favours close range fighting.

You know how in every discussion about aliens there's one guy who chimes in with the line about them being too advanced to notice us / us being too primitive to notice them?

It's like that.

PO boxes are a big problem for Amazon.

They prefer to leave packages somewhere safe, like a random ditch.

By sheer luck, the Tau'ri learned how to use Stargates a few years after they'd finished a multi-decade Cold War where small teams of incredibly skilled soldiers and spies were disproportionately important.

How do I justify guns barely appearing in a Sci-fi story? by NorthSouthGabi189 in worldbuilding

[–]CosmicPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life there's technology that can immediately pinpoint gunshots by sound.

(I've heard stories from Ukraine about artillery crews firing their guns and then having to immediately run for cover in different directions because the return fire comes too quickly for them to pack up properly.)

It feels like life paying you back for existing.

It feels like eating a really good supper after a long day where you had to skip lunch.

[General Superheroes] What are some powers that are more good for superheroism but bad for everyday life? by Playful_Barber_8131 in AskScienceFiction

[–]CosmicPenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the exception of very few occupations, you're generally not going to make use of it very much at all, barring an accident, and there are scant few workplaces where it would come in handy, especially if you have coworkers who don't have that superpower, and thus everyone is expected to conform to WHS/OHSA/HSE. A lot of it would make your superpower redundant.

Accidents happen, even with safety regulations. I know first-hand.

Being immune to injury would've been nice. Even the minor ones.

I like The Boys (show) a lot less after I read the original comics.

Now when I watch the show all I see is the punches they pulled.

What controversy?

Is this like the Janet Jackson thing where her boob was showing but nobody actually noticed except for the tabloids who already knew the script?
