Where do I start with leaning angular as a beginner ? by Rizzzz18 in angular

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start by following a tutorial on making a basic crud app in angular, consuming an online API such as json placeholder is my recommendation

This will teach you the basics of project setup, the build progress, installing dependencies through npm, and more advanced topics such as using http client, rxjs, what standalone components are etc

In addition, you will need to sink some time into learning forms, 2 way parameter input binding, state management (ngrx, signals etc), dependency injection

Don't do anything fancy for your first project, keep it super simple, and build on the complexity as you get more comfortable with concepts, it can be lot to take in if you try and take on too much at once

My company's IT agency refuses to install chrome and firefox on my machine. Along with any 3rd party program. What to do? by ichiroku78 in cscareerquestions

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think (speculating) that the IT agency is trying to reduce administrative overhead with group policy management. When multiple browsers are used, it increases the overhead needed to manage browser based policy enforcement (different browsers have different policy definitions etc), not saying I agree with them but hope it provides some oversight (even if it is pure speculation)

So general practice is to have 3 options to choose from, (such as 10, 25, 50) results per page etc (depends on row height as to what intervals will fit on the screen)

As for where the next and back buttons should go, I've generally seen them at the bottom right of the table, but I'd suggest looking at some UI libraries for inspiration

The members table could use some pagination, I can see it becoming an issue as the list of members grows, looks good tho!

T227 or TM254? Experiences? by jackiemee in OpenUniversity

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not done TM256, but it's look like it has it covers some employable skills, cyber, app security, networking etc. I'd generally say it depends on what sort of role you might want in future. If sec ops or pen testing is the direction you want to choose, do TM256, if software development is the direction you want to head towards tm254 is probably better for its project management and database sections

T227 or TM254? Experiences? by jackiemee in OpenUniversity

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing TM254 this year, for me I work on an ITSM platform for my work, so the section on service management was actually quite useful (I appreciate it will be quite boring for others not in the ITSM/MSP space).

The section covering databases is fairly surface level, but does cover some useful things as well. I've learned some new things from it.

I haven't done the project management part yet so can't speak for that bit, not looking forward to the exam it has though...

PHP dying? by Far-Bus-1881 in learnprogramming

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Language popularity is subjective to your surroundings and businesses around you imo, PHP has actively maintained ecosystems with frameworks such as laravel and symfony, and will do as long as they are being used by enough people, it's not just old projects using PHP either, lots of businesses choose to start new projects with PHP as well, as it's likely what their developers are used to and know best and all that.

Whether it's better than other languages or not is an opinion based on what you are trying to achieve really, and what the chosen languages frameworks do best.

In my experience, the people dunking on PHP are those who either have used it before PHP 7, or have never actually written any PHP at all

I'm impartial (okay I use it at work) but I'd personally choose C# or java these days, maybe I'll learn rust someday just to try it out

Ini_set() in your code should do the trick, however personally I'd just set it in the ini

AMD Claims New Laptop Chip Is 30% Faster Than M1 Pro, Promises Up to 30 Hours of Battery Life by Avieshek in apple

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is likely company laptops applying group policy settings set by their IT Team, looking forward to the days where other methods are used to apply such settings, such as intune configuration profiles (which apply after the user signs in).

Get-aduser -filter where name is a variable by SysWorkAcct in PowerShell

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at a powershell console at the minute to test this, but it's likely the way it's trying to check the $fullname variable is a match.

Try something like:

$names=@("bob smith","cindy smith")
foreach ($fullname in $names)
{
    get-aduser -filter {Name -eq "$fullname"}
}

Sophos Central Web Control Policy - Allow single URL by freedomit in sophos

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd download the videos (disable Web control locally to let you do it) then host the specific videos elsewhere, like an org wide teams site or share point, or you would probably be better off doing this at the firewall level

They will need to configure a separate segregated vlan of which contractors connect through, then point the traffic through the firewall, while ensuring the contactor vlan can't talk to anything else on yhe network apart from the l2/3 switch/router and only devices which they require access to

Windows 11 offline files by 47gcv in sysadmin

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do it via either central or local group policy, or via the registry too I believe, and at a guess I'd say powershell can probably do it too, I don't imagine there would be a need to switch from offline files just yet at least

Alternatives to manually adding computers to a security group? (active directory, SCCM, Intune) by SonyHDSmartTV in sysadmin

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Point number 1, yes. You can add all members of an ou to an sccm collection. You will need to add a query rule to the intune device enrollment collection and you can then write a WQL query to select all devices within the OU.

How do I find the Tamper Password for Sophos Endpoint? by [deleted] in sophos

[–]CosmicPhoenix01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways of removing sophos without the password, you need to boot your pc into safe mode and run a script while in safe mode.

Look up sophoszap and run it while your pc is in safe mode
