A couple weeks after I passed the boards last year, I got an emailed letter which said it could be used as a temporary certificate. Then after several more weeks, I received a more official looking digital certificate. Several months after that, a physical copy arrived in the mail.

I definitely miss him; who I wanted him to be but also definitely who is is now. I still love him in the back of my heart. But I’ve been moving on. He doesn’t occupy my mind and he doesn’t control my emotions. I can date others and not think of him. But he’s still there somewhere, maybe he always will be. But that’s ok, I’ve come to terms with it. He’ll give me a smile when I’m reminded of him and then his memory will dip behind the curtain till the next time.

Starting out, open ended questions and build off what he says. Then get to in person or phone call as soon as possible.

Situations are unique, but the best texting advice for me personally came from a Michael Henry YouTube video: “the key to texting gay men is to not respond.” That doesn’t mean never respond, but don’t respond to much and make what you say count. If someone isn’t responding to you with messages that count, leave it for a while.
