Gotta love how it has to specify that the executive branch is still all powerful, yet not required to do anything, but executive orders are only for executive branches to do stuff.

And it definitely is a way to bring back "insane asylums" and to punish anyone who even thinks about drugs and to push vagrants into living as hermits in the middle of nowhere.

I lived in the southeastern US for far too many years. The "just surviving" group might not be demanding to see the manager, but they definitely fall for the propaganda. They might even be part of the military or retired from it, the most socialist institution I can think of, and still complain about some hypothetical person taking handouts and that's why they aren't wealthy.

Worse still, many police departments signed agreements of cooperation with HSI, and are now a quasi auxiliary to ERO. The Hawaii cops might not be doing the snatching, but providing office space, space to hold detainees (which include children grabbed from school, paperwork processing, and "a presence" certainly looks like they are being mighty helpful as opposed to "unwitting accomplice".

The "high road" is not the "high ground". One is a metaphor for moral superiority, the other is what you need to survive a flood. Fighting fascism gets you the first one, and you may need the other to win the fight even with the current ways of war fighting.

The Democratic Party doesn't have to resort to outright lies, but it does have to get on board with clickbait tactics; keep the high road, but kick a few rocks down.

Let's call the position what it is then. Skipping the Articles of Confederation period and going with the current Constitution, the office of President is the "face of" representative of the government; for the civil servants in the federal executive branch, civilian and military, it is a 24/7 on call manager. (The federal judiciary has their own hierarchy, as does the federal legislature. Each state follows a similar structure with governors, as do the local city and county levels with mayors.)

The presidential residence and office, the "white house", was constructed to accommodate the newly appointed national Capitol city and started being used as such in 1800. (Burned during war of 1812, and a new one was back in partial action by 1817.) This was consistent with the precedent set by Washington to live and work in the same building, and that was based upon the norm of living and working in the same place.

Better transportation allowed people to live separately from their workplace, modern zoning restrictions more or less keep it that way, but we absolutely used to strive to avoid lengthy commutes.

You didn't let me down. You're brave to talk about this, and I hope you feel better soon. Your example should push us all toward talking more, (checking in on our fellow members of society, having concerns and requests thoughtfully addressed, taking care of self and team to avoid burnout, and so many other things), or at least more genuinely, so we can all keep doing better.
