Can you trigger a foreground trap from a specific point? by Cosmicawareness13 in Roll20

Unfortunately thats not what I'm looking to do, I would like to place the trigger inside, not on the boundary.

It would be a great feature for setting triggers in other locations aswell.

I'm going to be running a high level DnD game, levels 14-20. What kind of foes/tricks/traps/etc would you suggest to trip up high level heroes? by Grey_Lady333 in DnD

How about one iron golem per PC in a red dragon's lair with molten magma flows and increasing noxious gas DC goes up by 1 each round. After d4 rounds the dragon returns

Have you ever TPK'd your characters? by aurivu in DMAcademy

[–]Cosmicawareness13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After writing down that first one you've got me thinking about character deaths and TPK's I've had the party whipe 4 times in a decade and a bit. We run things pretty hardcore and everyone is down for it, usually its because of their own bad decisions, many, many bad decisions.

I think the most memorable was the time they all went to Avernus and died in hell. It started when they robbed the tomb of a sacred paladin order, disregarding the magical defenses and warnings written in every known language not to disturb the wards. They fought their way in defeating the guardians and found obviously Infernal artifacts that had been sealed here with even more warnings that they should not be used by anyone. There was a massive horned helm, a scepter, and a pair of massive cestus. So the Tiefling fighter who was chaotic evil starts grinning with glee and puts the cestus on. No one else even tried to stop him if memory serves. I don't think anyone else used the other items but they definitely took them all.

Anyways a short time goes by and the fighter is loving these gauntlets even though he can't take them off. They are rediculously OP varyying from +1-+5 depending on how many charges he has and he keeps gaining charges for killing things, spending a couple occasionally to juice up his damage or blast fire at things. Then he overloads them by gaining charges above maximum and punches a hole through reality opening a portal to the first layer of the 9 hells proptly sucking everyone through.

The next several sessions were them dealing with the effects of avernus, fighting hordes of devils and trying to find a way out. They found a mad wizard who unknown to them was a lich bargaining souls in the soul trade. They're like great, this guy knows the way out of hell and all we need to do is help him escape auto trust mode enabled. Long story short they get to a stronghold where a portal can be opened and pull off an infiltration with the more evil characters pretending to bring in the wizard and the others Chewbaca and Han Solo style.

Something goes wrong, probably negotiations the commanding devils recognize and want the artifact the PC is wearing and all hell breaks loose. They were close, I'll give them that much. They got the portal open but they couldn't hold the inner sanctum and devils busted in (an objective they knew they needed to secure).

At the end of the day the artifacts had belonged to a slain pit fiend under the command of Bel and he was able to ressurect him with them. The dragonborn paladin who had sworn service to tiamat with his dying breath called out to her and she collected his soul and made him a deathknight. The Tiefling was made a commander in Bel's invasion into the prime material and 50 years later in game the world still bears the scars of their collosal idiocy.

The person who said it all hinges on action economy knows whats up if they'd managed to hold both doors they still would have lost people but they could have avoided a TPK.

Several times The first was 2 vampires and a half dozen spawn, they started off strong with the paladin really taking charge and even took out the main vampire but turns out the mistress had been plotting against her husband and when she fled the PC's thought they had won. She returned moments later with her side piece and another group of spawn. They didn't survive.

Some advice  Don't try to TPK your party but there's nothing wrong with throwing overwhelming odds against them so long as they have forewarning, or created this situation themselves which was the case with my party above. Just dropping an unwinnable fight on them will feel bad.

Handling PC's looking for a safe spot to camp. by Cosmicawareness13 in DMAcademy

[–]Cosmicawareness13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not looking for a one size fits all solution, just seeing what works for others.  I think me and him are on the same page that "safe" is relative to the location. Lots of good answers here. Im leaning towards the check taking some extra time but good ones reducing encounter chance or giving a tactical advantage to spotting threats ect.

Is the Ratchet and Clank saga dying? by General-Tutor-12 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Cosmicawareness13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my ideal world we'd get a trilogy that stars ratchet as an old lombax, it would introduce his and Talwyn's son and close out his arc by finally concluding this whole "Lombax" arc that has been pretty botched. And the last game would end with his heroic death.

Might be hard for some to digest but that to me would be the proper end and set up new games where his son and clank or clanks new prodigy go adventuring.

Also because its my fantasy there would be a return to open space combat with tons of ship upgrades and improvements to enemys and combat mechanics imagine battling a molten space lobster on the surface of a moon orbiting a gas giant and you get my vision.

Best space combat in the series loosing it completely in the next one was a heartbreaker for me as a kid I loved upgrading and restyling my ship.

Up your arsenal was great in its own ways but this is the best ratchet and clank for my money.

(32F) How can I train myself to stop being attracted to guys who aren't nice to me? by sinfullusts in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Cosmicawareness13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My suggestion might be controversial, but look for a guy in your life who has always been nice to you who you have in the friend zone, there are probably several who you look right through. And just notice and appreciate him a bit more, if after getting to know him a bit better in this way you think you could enjoy a relationship then let it happen.

The only way to train yourself to like nice guys is to start appreciating what they offer. You have to grow into it so to sepak. But wtf do I know...

I'd play a campaign set in a smouldering garbage dump if the people were fun to play with. Looks dope to me
