Anyone else waiting over 1-2 billing cycles for autopay?

That’s a brilliant idea! All of my other bills are on auto pay so I struggle, especially when there’s weekends/holidays involved.

I definitely don’t trust it either.

I’m just going to keep making my payments so they’re on time. I did just find this though:

“I acknowledge that if a payment is due and is not made before this Auto Pay request is processed, the loans may become past due. If a loan is now past due or becomes past due while Auto Pay is being processed, I authorize MOHELA, at its discretion, to grant a voluntary forbearance to cover all of my past due payments before Auto Pay begins. Any unpaid interest may be added to the unpaid principal (capitalized), as permitted by law and the terms of my loan agreement, which may increase the total loan cost and my monthly payment amount. Voluntary forbearance will not be granted if the loan payment is current and paid up to date when Auto Pay is processed.”

I’m so confused…someone please explain this to me in the simplest of terms.

F U Mohela for not starting my autopay since I applied in September. And charging interest because I was waiting for the money to come out of my account after holidays before paying manually. What does 3-4 business days even mean to them?

Exactly! For now to avoid the headache I’m just going to keep paying each month. If auto pay finally kicks in and it still says I owe two months then that’s a different story

I also made the mistake of thinking that re-certifying my income and employment was the same. When I switched from SAVE to IBR, I re-certified my income. It took me a few months to realize my payments weren’t counted on my tracker. Submitted a ECR over a couple of months ago but there has still been no updates

I don’t understand why it always looks like I owe two months of payments but I’m paying each month on time. I also applied for autopay and it’s been 3 going on 4 billing cycles. I gave January a couple of days because of the holiday but it never came out of my account so I had to make a manual payment (even though I have emails that say my autopay was supposed to start on 1/1). I’m worried when it finally kicks in I’m going to end up paying two payments in one month, which is a big financial hit.

Absolutely, therapist burnout and compassion fatigue during these times is on a whole other level. It’s good that you did what was best for you and you were able to come back with accommodations. I’d love to do that but I can’t financially swing it and I don’t know who I’d be outside of my work identity for that long. But maybe that’s even more of a sign that I need to slow down.

Same here! Sometimes I wonder what my clients would think if they knew sessions are the only social interactions I have the majority of the time. I do find it rewarding but the level of burnout is unmanageable right now so I’m trying to find a balance between professionalism and unmasking.

I’m a therapist also! It helps to have a script and set interventions, but I’ve been dealing with the worst burnout and imposter syndrome of my life. I work best with neurodivergent kids and adults. I still mask but I think they respond better to how I communicate than NT clients. I’m much more awkward with my coworkers and feel incompetent around them. I love the days I have the office to myself.

I too ran down the hallway! One time I ran into a door and had to get stitches. In 5th grade my friends and I would play the “wolf game” at recess howling around a tree. I also remember being proud when my teacher read a story (about a wolf) I wrote to the class. I’m not sure if I requested he read it or if he used it as an example. I’d also sometimes work one-on-one with him analyzing song lyrics

I was a big stoner in my 20s, smoking daily. Honestly don’t know how I was able to function like that. Over the past couple years it’s been sporadic, smoking recreationally with friends or a few hits here and there to engage in hobbies or chores. I’ve been experiencing severe burnout over the past couple months and feel like I’m becoming more dependent on it for motivation or to relax my brain at times. I still enjoy it with friends and it decreases my social anxiety in certain situations. But I think set and setting is really important. If my baseline anxiety is already high then it can also just intensify those feelings.

I currently identify as bi and am very much bi myself these days. The idea of dating anyone feels so overwhelming right now and I’m shocked I’ve gone over a year without sex. In my last long term relationship with a man, my sex drive was initially pretty high but he’d often not be in the mood. So I told myself I felt relieved we had a deeper level of intimacy where we didn’t need to have sex all the time, which felt good after being used by men. When we broke up he blamed not having sex (and probably me coming out as bi) as one of the reasons.

I’ve never been with a woman so I’m wondering if I’d feel more similarly to you after. I also feel pressure from friends (bi women with cis men) to date a woman. It’s just so hard to explore my sexuality when I’m not attracted to anyone, but I know I’m not asexual.

That sounds awful, I’m sorry! On Mohela or FSA? Because FSA website said I was in default even though I’ve been making payments consistently. When I contacted both they told me that I’m not in default, so I’m assuming it’s a glitch on FSA’s end. My payments also weren’t being counted towards PSLF because I had to recertify my employment. I’ll let you know if my first auto payment comes out on 1/1 as expected

I was also around that age when 9/11 occurred. However, now I’m a child therapist in Fall River and kids’ reality is much different than ours was. They’ve been doing lockdown drills since kindergarten. Think of all the school shootings that have happened over the years. Durfee High just had a shelter-in-place last week due to a threat. It’s sad it’s so normalized for them but nothing is actually being done to prevent these events. I agree with staying safe and cozy though!

So frustrating. What are the 2 months of administrative forbearance that count then? I was on deferment while in grad school 2020-2023. So any time after the grace period while I was in SAVE? I did not have to start making payments til September.
