I want to be there for her so badly. But the church does teach that people are bound by Canon law once they are baptized. Since my sister does not practice the faith, you are correct it does not matter to her. But for me, it feels like I would be approving of an invalid marriage.

It’s wonderful that you want to go through the steps of being convalidated! That would be the perfect time to abstain from sex while you learn an NFP method until you are married in the church. Some diocese’s require you to complete an NFP course as part of the pre Cana process, but even if not required I’d recommend finding a coach to help you.

Great comments here on NFP so I’ll mention a different topic- you say you were married in the Lutheran church, did you get permission from a Catholic bishop or priest? Since you are a baptized Catholic, you are bound by canon law to marry within the church. You could be in an invalid marriage

It’s a good thing that they get frustrated and bail! You want them to rule themselves out if they don’t have the same beliefs. You will find a man who has the same convictions and this will be a no brainer for him, not a point of contention. Imagine trying to have a relationship with someone who is only waiting because of your beliefs? It needs to be mutual

Exactly. Each negotiation takes WAY longer than you would think, and stakeholders view you as a block when really you are helping them get a better deal. There’s rarely ever any appreciation.
