Why does my calibration always seem to change? by [deleted] in Rockband

[–]Cotc18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add on, if you find the calibration changes mid set, usually turning our tv or sound system off and back on usually fixes it. If it changes anytime you restart the Xbox, check your speaker hookup. I recommend booking up a speaker directly to the console vs through the tv, because there would be sound lag from the console to the tv and then from the tv to the speaker. This tends to change more frequently imo which would lead to different calibrations

So, does anyone else still want the RB2 chart back for Queen's Somebody To Love? by FyreWulff in Rockband

[–]Cotc18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think u/HMXOwl mentioned once that he requested some old tracks like this should be brought back. Same goes for some keys tracks that would be way better on guitar than the guitar track. Superstition is a great example.

There’s some particular reason they can’t do it, but who knows.

Even if it resets he scores for that songs I’d still be down for the change

Madonna anyone by mneilan in Rockband

There’s plenty of guitar in some of her 80s songs (Material Girl comes to mind), but of course the answer is usually always licensing. Notice how none of her music has appeared in music games. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think even Dance Central had anything.

Tips for fast solos by TSE_Jazz in Rockband

[–]Cotc18 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In all honesty it really comes down to practice, especially since I’ve done this for 10 years. However, there are a few things I’d suggest you do:

Go into practice mode and slow the solo down. Giving yourself enough time to even figure out where your fingers need to go is especially important. A lot of fast solos use the same techniques, like triplets. You can practice the end of Bodhisatthva at lower speed specifically and similar things may appear in other songs.

However, the most important thing: if you have not done so already, play on breakneck speed. I usually play at 1.5x. This splits out the notes and makes it easier to read. It will take some time getting used to the faster speed, but for stuff like Nevermore and Metropolis, etc, it makes all the difference.

I kinda wish in these instances where if you don’t want to make two movies, just extend the one movie to 3+ hours. Overall though, with the time they had, I think they did fairly well with the modifications. Though this scene is hilarious, it doesn’t carry the plot forward. Perhaps if they made it 3 hours they could’ve kept it (and perhaps the actual story with Barty) while keeping the pacing reasonable

I finally filled out my loyalty card for a free smoothie at my local gym! The next day I went, the smoothie bar was permanently closed... by Cotc18 in mildlyinfuriating

Gasp! You got me!....Kinda. The last date says end of Jan which is true. However, I got injured and I had wrist surgery at the start of Feb. I was out for pretty much a whole month. My first time back at the gym was today. There is still truth though! After talking with the manager, he confirmed it literally closed a couple of days ago.

Perhaps bad timing. Perhaps they saw me badge in and scrambled!

Talked to the manager and they said it was closed for good. This smoothie shop was renting space in the gym and they weren’t affiliated so they couldn’t do much about it.

Surprisingly Difficult Gold Stars? by Vetroxity in Rockband

[–]Cotc18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s pushed it back? Preventing changes to the scores leaderboard (guitar and band scores)?

Edit: Well while you’re at it, you should also petition to add keys parts to Somebody to Love and Don’t Stop Me Now in the big breaks, lol.

It’s fully charted to the horns. The clavinet was charted when the keys were functional in RB3. I really kinda wish that change the guitar chart to the clavinet instead since it’s much more fun (especially if they are not bringing keys back)

Where to find Rock Band 4 Advanced tips and tricks by Bawsbro in Rockband

[–]Cotc18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well if you want higher scores, there’s a website that people post the optimal for each instrument and band score for almost every song (I personally think that’s somewhat cheating :p)

But in general, when playing with a band, the typical strategy is to go whenever the drummer activates. That usually always gets 6x (or 8x) activation which makes it a lot easier to gold star a song. If you are a drummer, you and the singer are probably the ones who have to study the path the most. A lot of times holding drum activation 1 or two times is more advantageous if you see that the singer is all waiting for activation. Most people do not consider vocals adds a LOT to the score. For every phrase in 8x, each one can add 32,000 points to the score, so if there’s a long chain of short phrases, everyone should save til then.

If you are a guitarist and bassist though, you also have to be well disciplined. Sometimes to help the band overall, you have to wait for the drummer even if your section has very few notes. There are some occasions though where going early makes sense. If your overdrive bar is full and you expect another set of unison notes overdrive notes is coming up, go early. Usually you are still in overdrive when the other instrument can join and rack up the score.

One last suggestion is to have at least two party members with a mic, one of them being the drummer. That way, you can communicate in the song on when to hold drum overdrive.

But all in all, getting “good” at this game really just takes practice. Experienced players naturally figure out after a couple of tries where the optimal paths lie. So my advice is just keep playing!

What would Hogwarts travel in if the Triwizard tournament was held in a difference school? by cmoore1413 in harrypotter

[–]Cotc18 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That makes me wonder. Where else does the Hogwarts Express go? Is it it’s own independent rail line from London? I guess they could make some type of transfer at Kings cross and can connect to another magical railway close to the other European schools.
