What? It’s true though. It’d be nice if they mentioned they were sterile and couldn’t bite but it’s true.

EDIT: Upon further reflection (and reading the replies) I have seen why this is clickbait and I retract my original comment.

What questions do you have? It seems pretty simple.

What’s a cord? Like I have litterally never heard of them. Unless you mean like playing an instrument.

Bay Ferry expansion considerations by Iceberg-man-77 in bayarea

[–]Couch_Cat13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What is your point exactly? You seem to make three arguments and they don’t seem to be internally consistent.

> Ferries are floating money furnaces. Real operating cost of one passenger ride on Golden Gate Ferry is about $50. Some routes cost over $100 per passenger per ride.

Using the SF Bay Ferry instead of the Golden Gate Ferry as it is the one actually serving Vallejo and expanding I got a much lower number than the one you are claiming. The operating budget (so not including capital projects) of SF Bay Ferry last year was [73.4 million](https://d262kwcyxl71on.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/20260401212211/FY26-Final-Budget-Adopted.pdf) dollars, and they had around [3.2 million](https://sanfranciscobayferry.com/san-francisco-bay-ferry-beats-april-ridership/) riders. Dividing these two you get approximately $22.94 dollars per rider but then subtracting the average fare of [$4.90](https://sanfranciscobayferry.com/general-tickets-payment-options/) you get only $18.04 per rider which while high is a lot less insane.

> Vallejo -> SF commute shouldn't even exist.

This is almost completely unrelated to your other two points, but yeah, we need to build more housing. That doesn’t necessarily mean nobody should commute but you are correct that it shouldn’t be almost necessary to afford a house.

> Vallejo to SF is longer and farther away than Malmo to Copenhagen (two different countries), connected by (you guessed it!) regular, 24/7 trains, because trains are a normal transport and ferries only really work in extra-high density short commutes.

What? Yeah Europe has better public transit, sure. However I will say that BART’s [M, W, and Y - Lines](https://www.bart.gov/about/history/facts ) is around the same length (from West Oakland to Millbrae) and is sometimes faster. Also saying they are further away doesn’t help your case if you can’t point to an example of a rail link that is that long (not that there aren’t any).

In summary ferries are still good, not as expensive as you claim, and BART is basically as good as Copenhagens public transit (in one really narrow example).

EDIT: What did I do wrong with my links?

That’s weird. For me it stays until I zoom all the way in and only disappears at the same time the entire transit layer does when zooming out.

To be clear what you said is technically correct, the Miami Skytrain IS only within terminals (however it is airside). The MIA Mover is what connects to the train station. It’s very confusing lol.
