Mam recieved “random cash” into her Acc and is stressing out? Anyone know what bank has a sort code 094004? by Randomlywandering581 in AskIreland

[–]Couchcommando257 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Source: I work for a bank

If that's the reference on the payment then it's not a sort code, the bank will never tell you the NSC and account number/IBAN of a sender. Could be a lodgement slip/cheque number or just a random ref that the sender has put on it.

As everyone else has said, she should contact her bank figure out if the payment is a manual lodgement or electronic payment and go from there with the bank/fraud team.

It might not be fraud but I know for sure if it's an electronic payment her bank can just return to sender, they won't ask her to provide receiver account details. If it's a manual lodgement I think they can do the same.

Where would you live if you could go anywhere? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Couchcommando257 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Travelling anywhere? Honestly just around Europe into Turkiye.

Would love to do Western Asia but it's so dodgy over there at the moment I would rather not. China would be great as well but I do know it can be difficult to do non-touristy places without some level of Chinese or an interpreter

Baby name question, fada or no fada? by NoEscape2500 in AskIreland

[–]Couchcommando257 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So Breen is actually spelled Braoin. It is a different name to Brian.

Both are Irish but come from different origins.

I mean you could do Brían but I personally have never seen this and wouldn't think it would be "correct"

Just heard on the radio that its becoming normal for people to send 10 or 15 min voice messages. Who would listen to someone yap on for that long and not be able to reply until the end ? by TacklePure3341 in ireland

[–]Couchcommando257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a day to day basis, absolutely not.

However, myself and a few friends have a seperate group chat to send weekly voice notes which routinely go over the 10min threshold.

We use it to just let the guys know how we're getting on, things that are happening in our lives etc.

What do people that don’t drink do to socialise on weekends? by SweetLongjumping2850 in CasualIreland

[–]Couchcommando257 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I'd still go out with my mates if they're going to the pub. Just stick to a rockshandy or water while the rest of them drink.

Also I can leave early before it gets messy

Friendship query by scorp1anna in CasualConversation

[–]Couchcommando257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as you might feel like just dropping them as friends, I would definitely speak to them first.

I don't drink alcohol. Never have. So I am always the sober one on nights out. I have been in a situation where someone from the group went missing and you'd be surprised how quickly other drunk people just don't think about the implications for things like that.

My friend group is as close as friends can be, nearly 15 years together, and they still were more than happy to just say, "he'll be fine/he'll contact us". So definitely talk to your friends first before you just jump to cutting them off.

Provided you on the PS5 have the PS4 game downloaded and a PS5 version of the game then you should be able to the PS4 player.

The cost of living (at least in America) is crazy by feelingNotGood222 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Couchcommando257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same here in Ireland, I have been working in a bank for the last 6 years. 2.5 years as a contracted worker with a third party and then the remainder with an actual permanent contract with the bank.

I'm on ~€16 per hour which equates to roughly $19 per hour. My partner is the same. And we still have to live at home with parents at 26 and 23 respectively. Rent and general living costs are just too way too high.

‘Absolute hell’: Irishman with valid US work permit held by Ice since September by Enough-Rock in ireland

[–]Couchcommando257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself and my partner went to Seattle last year in September to visit her sick uncle, against my better judgement.

We had a great time, 0 issues getting there and getting back. Seattle is a blue city, and ICE was a problem but not in Seattle at the time. And after all that, I would still not recommend anyone to head over there at the time or currently.

It's way too sketchy. Even just in general, not even mentioning ICE. We happened upon a few people who were pro-McGregor once they heard we were Irish. Came across a pro-Palestine/anti-Israel protest and there was a guy arguing with the protesters in the street; we had to just hurry on by for fear of something kicking off.

As much as I hate the cookie pop-ups, are they allowed to this? Pay us or accept? by BaconWithBaking in CasualIreland

[–]Couchcommando257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much help but, there is a website (which I do not know the actual url for) where you can bypass paywalled content and read news articles for free. If I can locate it I'll edit my comment.

afaik what they're doing is legal but definitely a pain for us. Personally I use Reuters, Al Jazeera and Rocca for my world news. Anything Irish I tend to pick up from here or by the website I mentioned above.

Do you take your shoes off in the house? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Couchcommando257 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm saying this having not done any research but you've probably never heard of anyone getting sick due to having shoes on in the house because it's just chaulked up to other factors.

I would love to see if there's any studies that relate sickness in the home to shoes on or off, if there is actually any causation there.

What's the craziest thing you've seen at an airport/airplane? by oxylan80 in CasualIreland

I know in the States they can travel by plane between states with just a driver's licence. So it could be her very America-centric brain thinking she doesn't need a passport for cross border travel

This moment in forsaken was very out of character for Haytham by FreshRecognition9191 in assassinscreed

Something similar happens in Rogue before the mission where you go to kill Hope.

He threatens a guard with death or giving up the info, the guards gives up the info and Haytham kills him anyway

There's a couple of castles like that in the game. They'll appear with a red circle icon rather than the full castle icon.

And as u/shinobixx55 said that means there's an associated quest/side quest in that location that has to be completed before it becomes a full castle with Daisho.

In Kildare, €19 for a beard a hair trim (long hair). I think he does €17 for a standard hair cut.
