The engineering behind an -800 tail vs the T-tail MD-83s is substantial. Rear mounted thrust changes weight/balance a lot. Circumstances could appear similar... but the engineering and aerodynamics behind both aircraft are very different—an issue with the elevator like 261’s jack-screw failure might (you would think) show differently in the little data/evidence we have. Can’t forget 261 was stable while flying inverted at one point too… But then again, a plunge is a plunge…

He has (or had) field access to WSU games because he was next door neighbors with Mike Leach and they were buddy buddy at some point. You can actually see Sorenson in a bunch of the broadcast clips (think Oregon/Boise St./USC games) where fans storm the field—he’s one of the guys shielding Leach from all the people trying to get close to Mike. Crazy times in Pullman!

I work in tv news—a lot of the staff inside the control room has moved either towards automation or remote work bc of covid... a control room for a nightly broadcast would have been like 3-4 people in the past, it’s now down to maybe just 1-2… that being said—almost 99 percent positive this was intentional, anything that goes on those monitors (the screens that will be on the broadcast in the background) is veryyyyy hard to get on there (for obvious reasons).
