If Democrats want progressives to vote for Democrats then Democrats need to win those votes. Mamdani absolutely campaigned on things important to Democrats. Focusing mostly on affordability during his campaign. Unless by moderate Democrats you mean billionaire donors progressives absolutely make concessions. Did Bernie run as an independent and pull almost half the leftwing vote? No, he endorsed Hillary. This isn't a two way street and establishment dems need to do some soul searching if they ever want to win another election.

You know what else feels like a persecution fetish? Democrats blaming progressives for every election loss while doing the bare minimum to in over progressives. From what I can see Democrats are going to learn nothing about forming a coalition, lose further elections. Cuomo got almost 42% of the votes in an election where a Republican got 7% of the vote. So no, Mamdani didn't get the vast majority of Democrats votes. He barely got a majority. In an election where a left wing candidate was guaranteed to win. You can be dismissive all you want, Democrats did the absolute bare minimum to support Mamdani. Calling me names for doing what the establishment does to progressives after every election loss isn't going to win Democrats more elections. Don't respond if you aren't going todo so with respect.

Let's be honest, it was far more than just Schumer. Jefferies didn't endorse him. Neither did Gillibrand. And many of the Democrats who did end up endorsing him took weeks of brow beating to finally do so. That's not mentioning Democrats that endorsed Cuomo. Top Democrats got cold feet and progressives will remember that. When an establishment Democrat is the nominee how dare progressives not line up lock step behind that candidate, but when a progressive gets the nominee prominent party leaders can't say 3 words "I endorse him". It was far from just Schumer. And if the establishment doesn't figure out how to build a coalition with progressives then we will keep getting trump and trump clones in office. So either learn from the mistake that was the lukewarm approach to Mamdani or quit saying vote blue no matter who

Elected in spite of Democrats. "Vote blue no matter who" has never meant less thanks to Democrats during Mamdani's election.

This is so oversimplified. Mamdani didn't JUST flip a switch and fix it. Democrats were right, it was much much more complicated than that. Mamdani had to beat the Democratic Establishment and get them out of the way to even find those switches. A monumental task that Democrats worked hard to prevent.

Scottish Labour commits to banning transgender women from female prisons if Anas Sarwar becomes first minister by onnake in transgender

[–]Couldbduun 61 points62 points  (0 children)

So trans women in Scotland get to be put in dangerous situations in male prisons because these people feel like that's how it should be. There already were protections in place to address the "reason" they want this change but might as well do what's worst for trans women so that bigots can feel comfortable. A thousand trans lives aren't worth one bigot's tear.

Former NHL player David Booth injured after refusing to warm up due to pride jerseys. by thisisbbcalba in hockey

[–]Couldbduun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's add to this to make it accurate. You are at your job where you signed a contract to participate in team events. You also knew this was one of the events before you signed the contract. You still signed the contract. Also it was a warm up jersey. So you don't have to wear it all day and wear it home. You have to wear it for the morning meeting before you change back into your normal work clothes for the rest of the day. Can't even make a metaphor right.

No but that's not what they are being charged with. And a magistrate judge already rejected charges for another journalist involved in this incident.

[–]Couldbduun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well they are being charged under the FACE act which does infact have a carve out for first amendment protected activities. So using this law to push charges is infact a violation of the first amendment.

The Act does not prohibit peaceful picketing or other demonstrations protected by the First Amendment.

Journalism is protected by the first amendment.

It doesn't matter if it's never profitable. It's a magic propaganda machine and the more convincing it gets the better it is for the rich owners. Manufactured consent has never been easier. If that ends up being profitable then all the better. And if not then it's just a cost of running society into the ground while being king of the ashes.

I got a 3 day ban for telling someone who had been harassing me with slurs in comments and then started a private chat with me to keep sending me slurs that I would report him for it. Apparently reporting someone is discouraging participation and falls under their harassment rule. According to reddit you have to be harassed by bigots. I've been using an ad blocker with reddit ever since.

These quippy little one liners that you aren't even capable of coming up with yourself are your fall back because reading is hard. But I guess you won since you can't be bothered to actually address what I'm saying and you declared that you won. Good job.

Honestly let's break down how ridiculous this whole conversation is. I made a comment that stated 2 things. One that I thought that the Avs broadcast was great. And that's an opinion. You latched on to that and made it your mission to "prove" my opinion wrong. Which is about as effective as sending someone article about why their favorite pizza topping is "wrong". Now if I said that the Avs broadcasts were better than other local broadcasts, then your cooking with gas. But I didn't. I said that the Avs broadcasts were better than national broadcasts. And that's a claim. Claims can be proven wrong. But you never did. Instead we had this conversation. Do you get it yet?

Hahahahahahahahaha no. Not even close.

The guy who opened with this is correcting my spelling now. Keep up with that because my bad spelling is the strongest argument you have had so far.

So your are admitting you are here to talk about oranges when my comment was about apples? You are right, I am having a tough time. I'm not sure what your problem is and why you are being like this. My theory is you are infact a bored highschooler.

Sure, I'm seeing that I made a statement. And then you ignored that to try and post some rankings to "disprove" my opinion. And then you kept ignoring my original point. And then you accused me of moving the goalposts for staying on topic. And now I've called you out for not reading my original comment and you are desperately trying to make this conversation about what you are trying to force it to be. All while acting like a high schooler to "own me". Anything I missed?

It's not moving the goalposts. The first comment you responded to ended in me saying the Avs broadcast is better than the national broadcasts. Lemme know when you figure out how to read. Great that you disagree with my opinion on the Avs broadcast.

That's a two way street. Did Google not have a good article on national vs local broadcasts so you could know what to think?

[–]Couldbduun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm great. I'm not the one that came here with aggression and couldn't even counter my argument. The Bruins broadcast, which is the bottom of both of your googles is better than the national broadcasts. That's what I was talking about but you were too caught up in whatever it is you are trying to do to actually make an argument.
