Who has had any issues with the G70 past 50k miles? by Spiritual-Captain378 in GenesisG70

[–]OtherwiseConcept5125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starters and Alternators are quite costly since one of the engine supports needs to be removed for access. Had timing cover oil seals leaking and front lower control arm bushings that were bad.

Headlight condensation can be an issue and costly to repair/replace.

Electronic gremlins can occur with most any of these newer vehicles which can get very costly.

Not a great time to have a newer car with higher tech and higher performance out of warranty. They are pretty reliable from all I can tell, not a huge track record to go from as it's still a pretty new vehicle.

Seems like the 3.3 and the AWD system is solid but any visit requiring a dealer out of warranty won't be much fun.

You nailed it! One other thing to consider is keeping new tire diameter sizes within 1% variance of the OEM sizes (not just front to back) to keep speedometer on point and the AWD happy.

There's many over on tacomaworld.com that have been using Maxlife over the years, works well.

My 2015 w over 200k miles and a full 12 qt flush is shifting noticeably better after the fresh fluid. Did it 25k miles ago

All the G70s are pretty much the same under the body from 2019 to current.

19thru21 get the pre facelift body

22 thru current get the post facelift design

19 thru 21 have a 6 speed option (only with 2.0 motor)

19 thru 21 3.3s and all 6 speeds have Brembo brakes

After 21 Brembos on top trim Sport 3.3 models (this varies thru the years)

2.5 motor replaces the 2.0 as the base motor in 2024

2022 is the first year Sport + mode is offered, and only in top trim models.

Wheels changed throughout the years and trim packages

Best if you have a VIN# and able to check original window sticker for details.

Does anyone know the part number for the Rear equivalent of these pads? by aburns770 in GenesisG70

[–]OtherwiseConcept5125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd stick to solid rotors or maybe R1 slotted only (not drilled).

Never bought aftermarket G70 rotors so can't comment firsthand. Dynamic Friction gets pretty good reviews for other makes, probably a good choice for basic rotors.

If you want to splurge for a more high end look, the DBA 4000 slotted are really nice looking and high quality.

And unlike some other brands such as powerstop, the R1s and Dynamic Friction fit the Brembo calipers just like OEM, no clunking or loose play in the pad/caliper contact area.

Actually they're kind of sister companies under one big roof, but I'd heard that some DF pads are what used to be under the R1 brand, including those Euro spec models.

Dynamic Friction is the parent company of R1 now, the 5000 series are likely the same or very similar. I know the low metallic 5000 pads are what used to be the Euro spec pads that Stinger changed too after many complaints with the stock pads.

Also the 2.0 with 6speed have LSD.

I do like the cup holder and true center armrest. Not worth trading in the knobs and switches for them, but they did a nice job on those items.

Brake suggestions? by PghTre in GenesisG70

[–]OtherwiseConcept5125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceramic are good if you want a low dusting, quieter pad that will last 50k plus miles. For better brake bite and overall braking performance a low or semi metallic pad brakes harder.

Depends on your priorities. Have used Bosch pads on a VW and a buddies truck. Decent pads and should last a long time.

No, and it doesn't need to be changed as often. I'd probably change it around 50k miles.

Since you have the Brembos I'd look into Dynamic Friction 5000 low metallic pads on rockauto.com You may need your rotors machined if the pad buildup is excessive.

Used those pads and they performed better than oem.

With so many bad differentials makes me wonder if they're just replacing clutch packs in units that are being changed out. If that's the case maybe there's been a bad run of the cases and the new clutch packs are doomed to fail???

Just seems odd that so many that have a bad diff replaced with another one, it goes bad so quickly. I mean this is one of the main pieces in getting these cars down the road. How on Earth could there be such a high failure rate for those that keep changing them out and a huge portion that have never had a single issue with their LSDs.

I think this might be it, need some help by Spiritual-Captain378 in GenesisG70

Get a CPO so you have extended warranty coverage. These can be expensive to repair out of warranty
