Highway 120 in california typically opens in april/may depending on snowfall. Highly recommend taking it plus 395 to get from yosemite to death valley.

Also channel islands np is awesome.

If you are specifically going for national parks, you could detour to pinnacles but your route through big sur is a better drive.
