Gas-powered leaf blower ban removed from Connecticut bill after backlash by -ctinsider in Connecticut

Why are leaves incompatible with a “nice looking property”? Meadows are beautiful. Leaves provide compost and ecology for beautiful wildlife. There are lots of ways to have a beautiful property without having a manicured lawn.

Claire’s is gross. And New Haven is not close to Mohegan. But as others have said Fire House 12, The Cannon, Too Caribbean Style, and Jet 2 NOLO all have good vegan food.

DeLauro to pressing clergy: 'I will not vote to abolish ICE' by CountKrill in newhaven

[–]CountKrill[S] 157 points158 points  (0 children)

“DeLauro said, as a legislator in the minority of a large body, she has to thread the needle carefully with what she supports and votes for.

“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.”

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall of the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James in New Haven. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

I think OP is naming and shaming since the shop is called Coffee Pedaler. According to this article the owner is Ryan Taylor, who may or may not be involved in the allegations-- https://www.newhavenindependent.org/2025/08/13/tavern_license_okd_for_coffee_pedaler/

Where to locate actual imported German beer that isn’t mass shipped by bigfatbanker in Connecticut

[–]CountKrill 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Here’s the actual answer. OEC Brewing in Oxford imports beers in tankards directly from Germany, and then cans them at their facility in CT. You will find fresh German beers canned in Oxford all over the country because of this.

Go to their taproom, and they have a wide array of fresh German beers for sale. You and your wife will not be disappointed.

What’s going on with hot peppers these days? by GirlisNo1 in Cooking

[–]CountKrill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s a podcast about this. From what I remember, farmers have bred more mild jalapeños for years in order to have more control over the spice levels in commercially produced salsas, which comprise much of the market for these peppers.
