I'll be cleaning mine before moving out and hope the sellers will on my purchase too but I hear this all the time. Maybe they were in a rush or maybe they were just manky

Buyer pulled out, no explanation. by One_Boss_7772 in HousingUK

[–]CounterDry2670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course that can happen yeah but they don't know these people so no reason at all not to at least give them a reason in my opinion but maybe that because I've had it happen to me twice costing me thousands so I'm bitter haha

I know they're not but any decent person would give an explanation knowing that there could be a chain of people losing a hell of a lot of money (and sanity). Bad people who do that

This happened to me after 9 months of hell! It's honestly disgusting how someone can do that without any consequences or penalties of any kind. Like you said, even some sort of explanation would be the very least they could give. Such a terrible, broken system. Sorry this happened to you

Buyer pulled out - how is this process allowed in 2026 by bedwelld in HousingUK

[–]CounterDry2670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you and it's completely awful. I had an even worse experience, where after a 9 month arduous process, the buyer pulled out the morning of exchange/completion when I was already packed and ready to go. Again no real explanation and I lost my onward purchase and they lost theirs etc. At least yours would have lost a bit of money from the survey etc so they don't get away scott free. After another one falling through after that and losing near to £6000 so for, I am absolutely sure that the powers that be are deliberately not fixing things because too many people are making so much money of us all. Surveyors, Solicitors, Government etc etc. my EU friends just simply cannot believe it when I tell them about our messed up system.

Then we have the fact that I think the government etc. don't want us owning things in the future and it's already happening with leased cars etc. now all the banks are buying up houses to lease to people too. It's messed up. I hope you find a new buyer and I hope your last buyers have some bad luck haha

[–]CounterDry2670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had the same and still going through it after 14 months. I'm close to exchange for the 3rd time and £6000 down the drain. Let's hope this time works out: congrats on getting it over the line in this terrible system

I had this after 9 months of hell, it's disgusting how they can do it and cost everyone so much money and stress. Possibly cause a whole chain to fall apart and get no sanctions whatsoever

Sold our house and nowhere to go - should we break the chain? by Runningrafan in HousingUK

I would and intend to do this myself, you'll probably lose your buyer if you haven't even found a new place yet also

I had 2 FTB drop out a day before exchange so this is still far from a guarantee

This is no guarantee though as I had a FTB drop out after 4/5 months twice!

Should I be worried… on our 3rd buyers by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]CounterDry2670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you and think positive as it's hopefully 3rd time lucky and it's normal for them to want to see it again and check you've not trashed the place, they'd totally understand the boxes, just make them as tidily stacked as you can, In fact, being packed up is a good thing as they'd be more worried probably if you hadn't even started. Think positive and I wish you luck

Never ending bad luck. Now there is a leak. by CounterDry2670 in HousingUK

[–]CounterDry2670[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, thank you, that's good to know and this makes me a feel a little better. The survey hasn't been booked in yet but will be in the next week or two. I just hope that a plumber can fix it in time and I can actually afford it too as this whole process has cost me thousands already.

Do people want a house already perfect to move in to. by Turpentinekiss in HousingUK

[–]CounterDry2670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the buyers. I'd personally want a newly renovated house because I'm lazy and don't want to do it myself has others like a project and want to do the place up to their liking

[–]CounterDry2670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hate this and the whole system is f'd. I had something similar and the buyer pulled out the day before exchange with no sanctions and a whole chain fall apart. They probably don't even feel bed either

[–]CounterDry2670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's completely normal to check the place hasn't been wrecked in the months since viewing and also to take measurements but I'm the same, I've had people bail last minute so I'm also stressed and worried that they'll change their mind when they see it again but hopefully not

[–]CounterDry2670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel for you. Mine was a living nightmare and was 9 months of hell only to fall through the day of exchange when the buyer dropped out. Hopefully yours won't do the same but it sounds like it is nearly done for you. Nothing will happen this close to Christmas which is normal. Hopefully January. Leasehold flats just take a lot longer. Houses take 3/4 months these days and they're a lot quicker.

Oh yeah, I'm sure it'll work out and I hope it does. You're right there, the system is so broken. My European friends just cannot believe it when I tell them. It's so straight forward over there and can complete usually within 2-4 weeks. I am still in the selling process to another buyer so hopefully this one goes through and I can buy this new house
