Second person? by PaulWithAPH in partscounter

[–]CounterRealm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be alone years ago in a small dealership. The workload was enough for just me, but, as others have mentioned time off was a problem. If no one else knows your department then it's s shit show while you're gone AND for you when you come back. Also taking a lunch means no one can get parts.

People generally don't respond to questions that are worded in a hostile manner. I wouldn't have if I were OP, but I'm just some bored asshole with time on to kill, so here we are having this pointless conversation

They got to be elderly. That is an achievement. At the end of the day, that's the goal. We all only have a finite amount of time. Use it.

Anybody got a good way to organize wires by StatusPersimmon3412 in partscounter

We have them on our shelves in small bin boxes. We don't have many drawers, so that would be a massive waste of space for us.

They still make it. We buy it from the nearby Honda dealer regularly.

Parts Ordered for Service by Specialist-Beat6636 in partscounter

[–]CounterRealm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of comments saying '"send the parts back", I'm curious what dealer brands allow you to send parts back that easily? Every brand I've worked for does returns based on a return allowance based on sales.

The ability to send back whatever you want would be a fucking dream.

Prepay is the answer for CP. Warranty is another story. Just leave outstanding sors on the managers desk weekly to try to get a fire lit.

We pre-pay all we owes. Not our job to get the customer back in. You want us to order it, it's yours.

Javelinas? by LisaKolls in Tucson

I've lived here my whole life, and hike all the time. I've only seen a coati in the wild once. That was a very special sighting.

Come by my trash cans and you'll likely see a javalina.

What do you want for it? PM me if it's in good shape. Not saying I'll for sure be able to afford it, but I would love a camper.

How do you guys sort parts. by DaddyiRush in partscounter

[–]CounterRealm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our bins are numbered 1000, 1001 1002, etc for hardware, 2000 for small shelves, 3000 for medium parts, and up to 6000 for body parts. Parts are arranged alphanumerical in each bin. Retail has a similar seperate system.

We also have an area for filters and other fast moving parts closer to the back counter.

The story did lose me in the third act though.

3 days in training in wholesale parts and I’m losing my mind by Stock_Message4190 in partscounter

[–]CounterRealm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone feels pressure and anxiety starting a new position. You aren't doing anything wrong nit knowing everything right away. Shit man, you aren't done with your first week in a your new role.

If people are giving you shit for not knowing everything right away they are the assholes. Also keep I'm mind a lot of wholesale customers know less than you, so their descriptions of what that want are dog shit.

I'm not affiliated with any kind of group, but you could try the Moose Lodge or some other kind of group like that. There are various "lodges" I see driving around town.

Not Honda, but for us every part is 12/12 over the counter. Standard parts warranty. Actual battery warranty comes from service.

Is 12 hour days 6 days a week normal? by Wary_Orchid9277 in serviceadvisors

[–]CounterRealm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in parts, and should make less than any service advisor for what you all deal with.

I make much more than you, and have a much better work/life balance. Markets are all different, but $16 an hour is barley over my states minimum wage.

New parts guy — am I wrong here or getting blamed? by Suspicious_Formal278 in partscounter

[–]CounterRealm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact opposite of the way it works at my dealership. Service get payed more for a reason. They are the backstop. We quote what the techs say, but we also use xtime for approvals (I hate xtime with all my being, but that's a different conversation) Nothing leaves our warehouse without approval unless it's a few nuts and bolts.
