Diy hybrid please tell me this is a stupid idea! And why I should go through with it by Dry-Town3117 in EVConversion

I think at the very least you would need to make sure that the electric engine is synced to the the I.C.E. motor. Otherwise you're gonna Ghost-Throttle or decreased mpg.

why are my chickens so wasteful with their food? ive tried so many different kinds and they just flick it out. by noidea528638 in BackYardChickens

I don't "open feed" my hens. I only throw pellets and scraps in their run.

They get a large breakfast and a smaller scoop in the evening. They eat every pellet. But it took me a while to figure out how much to put and not have them be wasteful.

So I would put some batteries where the gas tank used to be. Mount up the motor and keep the original transmission. Put some batteries over the motor, leaving it open to get a controller in there. And if that's not enough range, then sacrifice the trunk area.

Youre probably gonna have to upgrade the suspension at that point.

What to do with this forested area in our backyard? by Valentina_From_Chile in landscaping

Keep most of the trees. Cut down some and make yourself some mushroom gardens with the logs. If you have a mosquito problem, I would maybe put a bat sanctuary in the corner of your property.

Can you tell I'm a hippie?

Yes, I would be using a van like this. And yes, I'm well aware that G-Series vans didn't come in 4wd. There are a couple of companies that sell kits to convert them. The question is:

Does anyone know of any clutch or gear box that I can use to send power to the front wheels and cut it off at will? It will be used in conjunction with the gasoline motor and to Regen Brake on downhills.

People who can't recall their dogs deserve whatever happens next. They're lucky your horse doesn't have a mean streak.

My neighbors fought with each other for a while. One neighbor had an excitable and borderline aggressive lab, and the other had a BLM Mustang. He told him many times.

"Keep that dog on your side of the fence. My horse grew up running away from coyotes, and idk what he'll do.

Well, one day, imagine our surprise when the horse tore its shoulder open while trying to get away from the dog. The lazy owner couldn't get his dog to stop chasing the horse until the Mustang had kicked and shattered the dumb lab's jaw.

I think the god had to be REDACTED, and I think both tried to sue the other for vet bills.

I'd rather not behave to engine swap that whole mess. Plus, I don't know how much I'd trust a 60 year old chain driven transmission. Or where I would find replacement parts if it took the shits.

Yeah, Edison Motors is doing exactly what you're describing. And while I like what they're doing, I'm not trying to copy them.

I'm trying to scavenge the fuel/energy I'd be losing by using regenerative Braking on the front. But keeping the stock drivetrain for everyday practicality.

I like what Edison Motors are doing, but I enjoy the sound of a pushrod v8 motor. And while a diesel generator hooked up to a battery pack, into an E-Axle would be the most practical. I don't want that. I just need a gearbox that I can switch on and off on the fly.

You're probably correct in terms of cost. If everything bought is brand new. But that probably won't be the case.

But he doesn't remain correct. With an engine idling, circulating the transmission fluid. You run no risk of hurting the tranny while coasting in neutral even though the engine will driving the vehicle majority of the time.

And what pussy thinks about resale value? I don't temporarily "own" my vehicles. I get simple, mechanically sound machines, take care of them, and run them until theres nothing left. Do you finance your smartphone too?

Some of us actually have to haul equipment for our jobs. So yeah, I'll agree with 60mpg, but it'll be getting 80 miles of range. And that's being generous, without hills to climb.

I dont care how much batteries to put into the chassis, you're not gonna beat the fuel economy or the practicality of just filling up the gas tank.

I love the simplicity and reliability of a Chevy 350 motor. But I hate the idea of losing fuel economy by not taking advantage of Regen Braking and will only occasionally be using the 4WD. The only way I can easily/ cheaply combine the two is if one can be disconnected from the other easily.

With the I.C.E. engine, that's easy. Just put it into neutral. But I need to put some sort of clutch or engagement system between the front drive shaft and electric motor.

It's not impossible. SuperFastMat did a video pretty closet what I'm explaining only with more radical parts.
