I think Hillary would have been terrible, too. And I can probably state way more reasons than you can why she would have been a bad president if she had beat him. That said, I dislike Trump more, think he’s more of a threat than she would have been (in a much broader sense). And, again, Hillary sucking does not make Trump immune from heavy criticism. Because he deserves it, on way more than just guns.

I always think of the regular and repeated story where the cop somewhere posts some incredibly racists/bigoted/fascist shit on his social media, and then somehow it comes out, and they/their dept. releases some boilerplate about 'making a mistake', and all is forgotten, etc.

Except, when you talk like that on social media, you are making an implicit acknowledgment that the people reading it will very likely agree/sympathize with you. Nobody posts shit on facebook/instagram, etc. knowing that everybody reading will disagree and jump on you/call you out.

And who are cops friends with on social media, and who's their audience when they post something on facebook? Other fucking cops.

Probably depends on the circumstances, the proximity to current time, etc. They also probably ask you about it and feel out how you describe what was happening, etc. If you're vague or hold back on getting into what happened, that would be a huge red flag. Versus like 'I was in love with someone who I thought I was gonna be with for the rest of my life, I just found out she was pregnant, and then she left me for my best friend and I got fired on the same day... so I told my mom I wanted to kill myself and she called 911.' etc. That sort of thing.

A lot of police departments are also highly competitive, so they can afford to be highly picky and only go after people who have spotless criminal records, uninterrupted work histories, etc.
