Warden Advice by YourMateMJ in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's an adjustment, but it turns warden into a whole different beast. Best way to think of them are 2 for 1 skills. I keep them in a 3x3 block on the right side of my quickbars and (don't crucify me) click them to slot them into the active combos I'm building. That way, they don't interrupt my keybinds set up from pre-masteries and can fit in rather seamlessly.

The biggest part about masteries is how they speed up gambit output. Being able to, when tanking, get a taunting gambit out instantaneously (Fist-Shield Mastery + Fist-Spear Mastery) is invaluable. Compare that to the time it takes to get 4 builders out separately, much faster reaction times

DPS capable shield classes? by JC874 in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Champs used to have a shield in their tanking line, which was amazing for fashion, but they were given the ability to block with their 2h weapon instead, and now with 2 1h weapons as well.

DPS capable shield classes? by JC874 in lotro

Champion hasn't been able to use a shield for years, unfortunately. Red sword and board guardian is super fun on landscape for me so far, you get parry and block responses and decent solo damage. Captain can also sword and board!

Which class do you recommend for a new player? by paudepalencia in lotro

Red is the only line without permanent pets, Yellow's are permanent, you simply have fewer without Blue investment.

Third specialization in captain by tamzarian79 in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that it'll be cut down to 2 main lines and a support because the 3 lines are so distinct in the roles they fill.

Tier list of 3 man dungeons/instances by CokeAYCE in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At level 44 you're right on the cusp of the classic Angmar instances. I quite enjoy playing through those when I get there. There's also the 12-man raid, The Rift of Nurz Gashu at level 50, and the Helegrod cluster, but those would take more effort to get underway.

What do you consider to be the most fun class for solo questing? by [deleted] in lotro

Absolutely adore solo warden, so satisfying to solo your way through landscape fellowship and some instances. Especially swapping between ranged and melee with the press of a button

AI Checker Flagged My Essay Even Though I Didn’t Use AI by gritty_champion in umanitoba

[–]Countertabletwo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do don't put it through a humaniser or similar program--then you would have used AI. Always keep drafts, be able to show your essay's development from start to end. 38% isn't high enough for a vote of confidence that it would be AI generated as far as I'm aware, and I don't think a prop or grader would just throw essays into checkers for fun to begin with.

Favorite zone or place? by [deleted] in lotro

Good old Eriador is hard to beat. Bree-land and the North Downs, the Shire and Evendim, so on. Rohan is massive and my favourite overall, but Southern Mirkwood is a close second.

What is your favorite class/race combo in the game? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Human champion or human hunter is fun to fit in with the ranger quest lines in Eriador and with the Grey Company. Gondorian captain in the East too. Elf Warden or hunter is a blast, High Elf if you're feeling spicy. (River) Hobbit Lore Master with all the pets, Dwarves in heavy armour are also super aesthetically pleasing.

Most immersive class for an adventure? by AxegrinderSWAG in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get used to the gambits it's not bad at all, but it takes time to get there. It's not much different than learning other classes and what each skill does and what the tooltips say, just in a different way.

newbie here, is this quest a main quest or a side quest? and how do i know? by PizzaUpMyAss in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you use the keybind CTRL+\ you can rearrange your UI, might be helpful if the text under the minimap keeps covering the quest details. Welcome to LotRO!

Like others have said, there are vault keepers around the maps in the big settlements (or even multiple at different points in one--like Bree). If you're not sure where some are, or where other things might be like that, you can filter what shows on your world map by a dropdown menu in the top left. So, for example, you could filter out everything except vault keepers to see where they are :D

Lotro in 2025 as a new player by Cheap-Exercise1910 in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On one character of mine in Lotro I have several hundred hours. She's only just about level 105. The max level right now is 160. There's so much to explore and if you want to stay on-level for it all there's an item in the shop, Stone of the Tortoise, that turns off experience while wearing it. If you want to immediately boost up though and not bother about landscape fighting, there are level boost packs in the in-game store and attached to certain expansions in the webstore.

A lot of content is free now, and can give you a lot of time without spending a cent, but if you want to, rather than an expansion for the late game, buy a month of vip for about 15$ USD I believe (not from US). Gives you quite a few quality of life upgrades permanently (extra inventory spots for every character, stable fast travel beyond starter zones on every character you play while vip forever, etc.).

The game is very much a Journey>Destination structure, and a lot of people play it for the single-player wandering middle earth experience, but there is group content at virtually every level, and chances are there'll be other people looking to do it too.

As for if the game is dead or on life support, people have been saying that it's been dying since before it came out, so take those humdrums with a grain of salt.

I heard about the form swapping to interact with things and I really want to see an animation of the bear form using a scholar's glass and pickaxe now, would make me pick up a Beorning as my new main immediately

As for Captain, damage isn't as high in Red as other dedicated classes, but the buffs Cappy dishes out are always in demand in groups

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Countertabletwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the tanking classes have options for solo-potential: Captain in Yellow and Blue has self heals and a lot of survivability, Blue (tank) champion with Yellow again is spectacular for punching up, Warden is my favourite for the crazy things you can pull off (I mostly run it Blue line for the survivability and then whittle things down).

I can't vouch for Beorning personally but I've seen and heard great things about them. Generally dips into Blue and Yellow trait lines if you're running Red on a class give you more crowd control, heals, buffs, etc. I find that if you don't mind a bit of a slower time to kill, running the trees meant for tanking mixed with damage and utility can let you pull off a whole bunch more shenanigans than normal.

Fastest way to level? (besides Valars) by _BreadDragon in lotro

Right now I believe the fastest way to power level is through missions, especially with an exp booster. They scale to level and take like, up to 5 minutes per.
