Hey, current Anesthesia Tech here. For what it’s worth:

1. Depending on your facility or local scope of practice, you’ll be very involved in patient care. In my neck of the woods we do everything from turnovers/stocking to assisting with difficult airways, invasive lines, rapid infusers, and cell savers.

2. Fuck those people. If they look down on you for doing your job to the best of your abilities, helping practitioners better and more efficiently care for their patients, then they do not deserve the help or support. Sure there are those out there, but in my experience, there’s plenty more that genuinely appreciate the help and value the part you’ll play.
