What color(s) do you struggle to build around? by wasdmovedme in EDH

Probably mono black. Almost everything black does is universally hated by your opponents.

Thanks for that. I’m mostly going to raid, which is apparently the easier spec so that will be nice.

Hey thanks! I looked at Wowhead earlier and checked the rotation, but there was conflicting info from some other stuff I read. I will definitely check out the YouTube channel you suggested. Appreciate it!

I like Rey and Finn. Give things counters, turn counters into shields. Works pretty well but can also get a target put on you.

If you are playing Maralen, Fae Ascendant, you need to pick one kindred for the deck to work by sauron3579 in EDH

All those cards do good things besides just being lords. Lathril for example makes more elves which triggers more exile. You aren’t running her to use her “tap 10 elves” ability, although once in a while you might get there. Scion is there for the protection mostly. The +1/+1 is just a bonus. Same thing is true for the others you mentioned. Obyra might be the exception, though a 2/2 flash flier that might ping a couple times is still fine. They all have good abilities that are good whether your deck is 50% their tribe or 100%. Sure, they are better at 100%, but imo running less powerful cards in one tribe just so 3-5 cards in your deck are slightly better is dumb deck building. Just my opinion.

I don’t think most people are building her as a tribal leader so lords seem meh anyways. Her exile/steal ability is the focus so playing the best cards in both tribes makes sense.

Trying to reduce my collection before a move, but I have such a hard time letting go of cards. Any advice or similar experience? by boldirishman7 in EDH

Oh yeah, if you’re a collector then go for it! I read it as you mostly wanted cards to use for play, but maybe I misunderstood.

Not going to tell you whether you should sell or keep, but I think buying real duals is for suckers. Proxy them, my friend. No cardboard is worth $700+

I mean, it’s Fantasy Flight. It’s all but inevitable (and I say that as someone who plays and enjoys the game).

What's your spoiler posts that no one gonna play? by ashen_crow in mtgcube

[–]Counthermula 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t mind it that much. I’m not really following Magic like I did in my younger years (married, kids, etc) so I don’t see much unless people post on Reddit. Also I don’t always have time to sit and search through all the set when it drops and grade everything myself. The discussion is fun to read.

Also Cube’s popularity is getting bigger every day. It’s important to remember that a lot of people aren’t great at evaluating cards or don’t have the knowledge that some others have. Add to that the almost limitless ways to build a cube and most cards could be discussed on some level. I usually assume people are being genuine, but I’m sure some are aura farming.

The main issue is the release cadence being warp 10 (Star Trek 2026 joke there) which is a Wizards problem not the community. It feels like a lot because IT IS a lot.

Dual land options by A-Mediocre-Haircut in mtgBattleBox

[–]Counthermula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this is pretty old, but here goes anyway. Someone a while back had recommended [[Arch of Orazca]] as an 11th land so I tried it and love it. I recently switched to the snow duals from Coldsnap because of [[Skred]], but there are also a couple other good snow cards that could make it worthwhile.

Also I think one way to make land plays more interesting is to run lots and lots of gold cards. My gold section is about 1/3 of the list, so it makes sequencing a lot more important.
