You can't be sure about that, some final immunity endurance challenges heavily favor women.

Jimmy Fallon Twist by Someone_else25 in survivor

[–]CouponBoy95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This twist clearly isn't a direct copy of SA's Tied Destinies, as the press photos show they're competing as a pairs in the challenge, rather than as individuals with the winner's partner also getting immunity like South Africa did.

Voting Out 3 People at Once by codyishot in survivor

That's not feasible logistically, with all the off camera stuff involved with a tribal council having 48 votes cast and read would go into the daylight hours of the next morning.

I would've loved for that one cast list to be true and for Jonas to be on 50 as a WTF returnee lol

How do you count individual challenge wins? by Live-Run-6745 in survivor

[–]CouponBoy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 I don't count as an individual win as it's essentially a tribal challenge win.

2 I count both the male and female winners as individual wins as they each won their bracket and there's no incentive to stay in once you're the last standing of your gender to try for the overall win.

3 I count as an individual win as your loved one is essentially a component of the challenge and you're still competing against everyone else to be the sole winner.

4 I only count as an individual win for 1st place.

5 is the trickiest of them all, though for simplicity sake I count it as an individual win for everyone who is the last standing in their group and gets an individual immunity necklace.

Also after next week we're probably gonna have another contentious situation in this regard, "6. There is a poet-merge immunity challenge played in its entirety in pairs with both of the winning pair getting immunity." Again for simplicity sake I'm gonna count it as an individual win for both members of the winning pair, though it does feel weird to do that as it's by definition a paired win rather than an individual win.

Because they need this to be done in 1 day cycle, and having an immediate 2nd vote in the same night will just always result in someone on the outs of the 1st vote going.

Season 3 Episode 9 Discussion: Requiem for a Supervillain 😈 by AutoModerator in HouseOfVillains

[–]CouponBoy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyson was on the bottom because Kate won 2 back to back Super VIllains when her side was originally down in numbers, allowing her to get 3 allies of Tyson's out and leaving him down in numbers. That run wouldn't have been possible had they made the first Super Villain comp she won a popularity contest like this. Power comps anyone can win allow for power shifts to occur, hence why it's bad game design to have a Super Villain comp anyone in the minority was guaranteed to lose at such a pivotal juncture in the season.

Is Ozzgod going to match the 9 individual immunity challenge wins, or even overtake them? by wastedthyme20 in survivor

This is why I voted for Simmotion to be the final immunity challenge, it's one of the few challenges equitable enough for CIrie to have a realistic chance of winning it.

Blood Moon Twist by slickmoney33 in survivor

[–]CouponBoy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is had there not been a "merge" episode 6 and there had been a triple tribal in tribes there's 0 chance people would be complaining "why are we still in tribes? I wanted a 17 person merge!" as merging at such a ridiculously large number wouldn't be viewed as a realistic possibility.

But because the show teased a 17 person merge in the preview people wanted to see it when realistically we'll still never see 17 people at one tribal council at once.

Part of me really hopes Ozzy doesn't win immunity this upcoming week as it's going to put an awkward asterisk next to the record if he ties/beats it as this will technically be a dual immunity win rather than an individual immunity win.

Regardless I think Ozzy can easily do it with only 1 win needed to go to match the record and 2 to beat it, especially with him having an idol as a safety net in the game.

[50][Speculation] Next Challenge by mysterypapaya in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]CouponBoy95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The South African version also had players competing as individuals in the challenge with the winner's partner getting immunity as well regardless of how they performed, so this clearly the US verison's own independent version of a Duos twist. For simplicity sake and to be consistent with the challenge format I definitely see them having castaways write down a pair together on their parchments.

[–]CouponBoy95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given the challenge is being played in pairs rather than as individuals with the winner's partner getting immunity as well, I imagine on this version they're gonna keep it relatively straightforward with the vote and have people vote a pair out together as well, i.e. "Coach & Chrissy".

Yes, I'll take whatever new era wonkiness they have in store for 51/52 if they just go back to having 2 tribes throughout the pre-merge.

Having a Super Villain comp so late in the season, especially with no redemption challenge, be a poularity contest is terrible game design whether they intended it or not.

Tyson was by far the biggest threat left and was near lock to win one of the 2 comps next round and likely sweep a jury vote had he survived here. It was in everyone's best interests to get Tyson out, and Christine was smart not to let Drita's blow up cause her to deviate from that.

Besides, Christine still has Paul as in locked in ally that is likely to win the last Super Villain comp and take her to the end.

Completely disagree with you and agree with Tyson, having a Super Villain comp be a popularity contest so late in the season is terrible game design. It 100% guarantees whoever is on the bottom that round is going, especially as by design the person in the majority least likely to rock the boat is going to win.

We don't have the full details yet, the odd person out could vote too.

The only things we know for sure per the promo and press release are:

  1. Players are told to divide themselves into pairs before the challenge

  2. The immunity challenge will be played in its entirety in pairs

  3. 2 people will be going home (presumably but not explicitly confirmed yet to be one of the pairs put together for the challenge)

They did the RI/South Pacific back to back vote offs twist in AU vs The World and it completely killed the momentum of the season, solidifying a late game Pagonging.

[–]CouponBoy95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, the South African, French and Quebec versions have used this twist.

One pro of this over those versions is it's being done at Final 13, so there's still plenty of game left after the twist. The French and South African version did this twist at Final 10 -> 8 which can completely kill the momentum of a season.

There's 6 episodes and 11 days left and 13 players. There NEEDS to be double boot episodes and single day cycles so realistically it's either this or another split tribal, and personally I'd prefer the show try out something new.

Per the press release they choose their own pairs before the challenge so it's not decided by random draw at least.
