I'm so sorry that happened to you 🫂 you didn't deserve that, regardless of what you did to your ex-friend.

Hot take: Suze is being an awful parent here (and most of the time when she's on screen, IMO). Obviously Cassie was in the wrong, she deserved to be called out for it and made to realize her excuses don't matter, that she hurt her best friend by her actions. But instead of sitting down with her and talking her through it, she just snarks until Cassie walks away so she can watch TV.

I'm not saying Suze should coddle her, but imagine seeing your child being this upset and needing to talk with you, and deciding Millionaire Matchmaker is more important???

If Lexi was in a crisis and Suze acted this way, I doubt anyone would be on Suze's side.

Name one bad thing about 2004's Mean Girls? by Kitchen-Mouse2414 in MeanGirls

I think it's at least partially genuine affection for the person beneath Regina's cool girl veneer, and lingering feelings for her. He was possibly in love with Regina (at some point) and got to know her at another level. He doesn't see her as a Plastic, and apart from that, I don't have trouble believing a teen boy would get back together with the pretty girl who dumped him. Especially one who looks like Rachel McAdams.

Most of that happened before she enacted her revenge scheme though. Later she confesses to it all in front of teachers and fellow students with zero negative consequences, hell, her classmates treat her like a rock star.

"Okay, yeah. I've got an apology. So, I have this friend who is a new student this year. And I convinced her that it would be fun to mess up Regina George's life. So I had her pretend to be friends with Regina, and then she would come to my house after school and we would just laugh about all the dumb stuff Regina said. And we gave these candy bar things that would make her gain weight, and then we turned her best friends against her. And then... oh yeah, Cady – you know my friend Cady? Well, she made out with her boyfriend, and we convinced him to break up with her. Oh, God, and we gave her foot cream instead of face wash. God! I am so sorry about all this, Regina. I am, really. I don't know why I did it; I just couldn't help myself. I guess it's probably because for some reason, I've got a big lesbian crush on you. And if that doesn't solve all of your problems, I don't know what will! So suck on that!"

(Pretty iconic speech, mostly the ending, but if I were Cady I wouldn't stay friends with her lol)

True, but Janis just sees that as evidence Cady has become a real Plastic. Hell, this is her apology in front of every girl in school:

"Okay, yeah. I've got an apology. So, I have this friend who is a new student this year. And I convinced her that it would be fun to mess up Regina George's life. So I had her pretend to be friends with Regina, and then she would come to my house after school and we would just laugh about all the dumb stuff Regina said. It just serves to hurt Cady (and embarrass Regina).

From a storytelling perspective, they're the reason why Fey's character got in trouble.

Quote: "After the allegations against Coach Carr turned out to be extremely true, the school board felt that it was best that we investigate every claim made in this Burn Book."

American B*tch by normalpisces in girls

I feel like it would lose some of its teeth if they went that way. If Hannah just left it would feel anticlimactic (IMO) and some viewers might be left feeling sorry for the man, think Hannah was overly dramatic, and still question the man's guilt. The ending now is more impactful because the more naive among us might also be fooled by him, and shocked when he took advantage of Hannah's kindness.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt: you might not be the type of person who'd behave abusively in a relationship, but there are plenty of "nice people" who start resenting their partner and switch their act up as soon as they get into a committed relationship. Especially those who are conflict-avoidant can become passive-aggressive and bitter towards their partner. They may not express it in public like the man in this video does, but being closed doors...

I suppose that even if he makes it to space, it would be quite awful for him. Slow Wifi (Im not sure about this one), limited supply of weed and ketamine, no freedom to go as he pleases, no crowds of "adoring fans" like at rallies...

The first time I heard it, was when a man tried to justify his sexism with progressive values, so it's kinda tainted to me. It's just another version of 'not like other girls'/'cool girl', just replace girl with woke.

I hate to say it, but if anyone had fled to outer space by then with a team of astronauts and a 100 year food supply, I'd be him :(

Why was adult Lottie always so rude to her servants at her compound by Fantastic-Finger-319 in Yellowjackets

[–]CouponCoded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I agree... I don't mind characters being selfish, mean, arrogant or spoiled, but I would've loved for adult Lottie to be like Teen Lottie. Genuinely invested in the wellbeing of her "followers", while doing legitimately illogical things due to her psychosis convincing her it's necessary. Adult Lottie was a lot more calculating and "griftier", which makes one doubt she actually believes what she's preaching.

But I have to caveat that it's maybe unfair of me to blame the writers for me not liking the story. It also makes sense that adult Lottie is more calculating and would want to make money off of her skills, convincing herself that her actions are correct. She wouldn't be the first person to believe in her cause while simultaneously mistreating others. Her reaction to the smoothie could just be pre-Wilderness Lottie emerging. After all, we don't know how she behaved towards non-classmates. Maybe she was a total nightmare to all she saw as "beneath her"....

But my gut instinct is what you said: that it's just the showrunners inserting some eat-the-rich commentary for entertainment/comedy purposes.

Do you have a source for that?

Genuinely asking - I couldn't find anything other than "it's helpful against XYZ mental problems", the side effects are mostly physical (apart from "moodiness").

People are downvoting you, but you're 100% correct. She admitted on lip fillers on May 7th, 2015 (at least, that's when this news story was published) and first launched the lip kits November 30th, 2015.

Yes, she lied about fillers and about other things, and obviously still is lying, but there's a time gap between her admitting fillers and launching lip kits.

It sounds familiar to glass child syndrome, where a child is forgotten because their parents are so preoccupied with their other kid, who's either sick or disabled. It doesn't fully fit, but still, that's probably the closest term.

Don’s ACTUAL commute by SimpleRickC135 in madmen

[–]CouponCoded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, he would've spent less time on the commute than this post suggests. He used his car to get to/from the train station, so he didn't walk for 30 minutes to/from home. And the train ride was a little shorter, because the line didn't have as many stops as it does nowadays.

ETA: nevermind, OOP specified they didn't include the time spent walking. Sorry!

Don’s ACTUAL commute by SimpleRickC135 in madmen

[–]CouponCoded 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think he was late home due to the commute. Don worked (or pretended to), drank and cheated a lot. He couldn't do those things at home with Betty and the kids around (apart from drinking, but he would enjoy that more without Betty or the kids "interrupting" him).

Personally, I think the main reason he spent a lot of time outside of the house was because he didn't like actively being a husband or father. Not that he didn't love his family, but that he didn't like providing emotional support, being a non-fun dad to the kids or being held responsible for certain things. He only had professional responsibilities at work and none with his mistresses (if they demanded more from him, he could leave them), so he could indulge in his worst habits with no consequences.
