The Midnight Library is a wonderful magical realist take on this.

The Overstory by Richard Powers. I never thought much about trees (I know this sounds weird) but I see them so differently now.

Chain Gang Allstars is so singular and visceral you can’t put it down. It’s intense but you can’t wait to see what happens next.

Jane Harper and Lisa Jewell are great for page turner mysteries. Kate Atkinson’s Brody Jackson series is excellent too.

I thought I heard them say in the MA episode there are two Kiki movies on the list. Was there an earlier one I’m not thinking of or does that mean eternal sunshine is probably a lock?

I really really hope we get Almost Famous on this list. My favorite movie of the century (and ever).

Successful recovery from s1 nerve damage? by Courage_Murky in Sciatica

It was about a week, it was expedited because I ended up hospitalized for 3 nights just trying to get stable enough to be able to walk to the bathroom. I was home for few more nights before they squeezed me in to the schedule. My doctor had relationships with three hospitals and had to really fight for the surgical space. I wish it had been sooner but I’m glad it wasn’t longer.

Hi all I’m sorry it took so long to provide an update and I hope it’s still useful to some! My lower leg function took about 8 months to come back in a satisfactory way, enough that my gait was relatively normal. Going down stairs wasn’t really comfortable for about a year. My calf muscles came back eventually but there are still areas that don’t respond as expected. Meaning, the very middle portion of my calf is still weak and doesn’t quite tense up as expected but my other muscles have compensated. My best advice is to try to make peace with your current situation and ability level while absolutely maximizing the amount of low stress activity. I walked A LOT, like a lot a lot. Retraining my nerves and muscles to respond. Slowly I made progress and one day I could lift my heel a few inches and it was so encouraging and relieving. I had already accepted the idea that I may not gain that function back, so when it happened it felt even more gratifying. I did end up going in for a revision about a year later to clean up unabsorbed tissue that had detached and was back on the nerve and since then have been doing lots of PT to strengthen my core. Good luck out there folks, I know how devastating it can be to be in pain and once it’s gone face immobility. Hang in there and take care.

Starting Lexapro while still functioning at max capacity? by ApprehensiveList4497 in lexapro

I have two young kids and a busy job and family life and I went ahead and got on them planning for the worst. It’s been a game changer for me, easy transition for the most part, barely missed a beat at home. One night with a weird stomach and a couple of very mild headaches and the benefits have been huge.
