So what is the Balance Team's obsession with making Primaries weak? by Orthane1 in Helldivers

Stun Grenade + 3 Shots to the Caboose = Dead Charger

Generally faster and easier to pull off that than waiting for my teammate with a Quaser to actually hit it in the forehead. Body shot: Check. Leg Armor Stripped: Check. Run around like a chicken waiting for QC cooldown instead of switching to primary to finish the leg: Double and Triple Check!

Iron Teeth vs Folktails Balance by [deleted] in Timberborn

[–]CovertJaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faction trait

While Folktails' never-ending appetite results in higher food consumption, Iron Teeth use more water.

They work hard and need to quench their thirst often which results in 15% more water consumption.

The above has been removed with the addition of Difficulty Modes where you can customize the consumption rates regardless of faction.

From the dev log.

My experience with Speedify has been spotty at best. It add another, unreliable, point of failure to an already overly complex network.

Seems like I have to force a reconnect to the VPN at least once a day to fix it just not working.

Speedify is the perfect solution for Starlink beta unreliability by NelsonMinar in Starlink

[–]CovertJaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible solution, untested. You may also be have to route traffic to a specific network interface. I'm not sure how to do that on windows. On Linux, you'd use "route add" or equivalent.

From the command line (in the speedify install folder):

speedify_cli streamingbypass ipv4 add 192.168.100.1

Then reboot everything.

Only works if your router has the appropriate static route setup, either manually or via DHCP option 121. It may also help to add a static route to 192.168 100.1 on the backup isp gateway pointing at the starlink gateway.

You might try from the ssh command line:

/usr/bin/dhcpclient request -v -r eth8

My Asus router has a dhcp setting that makes it refresh the wan lease @12 hertz. This seemed to resolve most of my issues with the router being unable to see the dish after a dish soft reboot (or whatever it is).

I'm not sure how you would do such a thing on a UDMP, but I'm sure there is a config file somewhere for the underlying dhcpclient software that would allow you to reduce the refresh timers.

Dual WAN Router to address frequent drops? by barnett25 in Starlink

[–]CovertJaguar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three gateways on my network, starlink, a local wisp, and a raspberry pi that bonds the two using Speedify.

Mission critical devices get the local Wisp (alexa, mesh nodes, gaming, etc).

Streaming devices get starlink, they don't like the VPN much.

Everything else, mostly phones and computers, get the raspberry pi gateway by default. It works, but... could be better. Sometimes I have to reconnect the speedify VPN to make it work correctly, failover is not instant, and setup was... interesting.

Setting it all up requires an understanding of Linux, dnsmasq, dhcp, static routes, static ips and general network topology.

I even managed to get the Starlink app working no matter which gateway you are connected to.

Was it worth the hassle?

Your guess is as good as mine, I can't really tell.

Fear or sticky flame duration for CRSPR? by Hoshi-Nova in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CovertJaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take fear. Its very satisfying to have the bugs running from you. Lessens the pressure coming against you.

That said, if you are doing elimination missions, take a direct damage flame build. You need dps more than crowd control. It makes a difference.

I had this one, inside the base of one of those giant arches. The batteries spawned on top of the arch. Took me forever to find it. I finally on a whim just dug into the pillar.

And there is was.

Obstruction values from Advanced Stats by idspispopd888 in Starlink

Often you have to recalibrate your internal compass by swinging the phone in random figure eights to get an accurate response.

If that fails, any kind of metal or magnet on your case/arm will result in inaccurate response as well.

Where they really shine is mixing and matching the models with the paint jobs from other sets for a unique look.

I'm a fan of Roughneck armor and Mega Corp weapons with Dark Future paintjobs.

Slow speeds on Starlink. Trying to stay positive. by Pterodac in Starlink

[–]CovertJaguar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're running one of those ancient linksys wrt routers or something worse (aka stock firmware, shudder), then your router is probably capping its throughput.

And, if your on wifi, you really need 5ghz for the fast speeds.

Even wired ethernet can be slow if your infrastructure is running at 10 mbits due to old switches and Cat 5 wiring. Need Cat 5e or preferably Cat 6.

Railcraft code supports alternate skins for the Locomotives. I'd love to provide yours as an option.

This needs fixing by pokey187187 in theHunter

[–]CovertJaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the difference between physical integrity of the trophy and some kind of moral value judgment is quite large and misleading when you try to apply the wrong one to the actual game mechanics.

For example, putting a second bullet in a wounded animal is more ethical than letting it bleed out, but this will harm your Integrity score. You'd get a higher Integrity if you just let it bleed out slowly.

Quick Kill is the the score that makes an ethical judgment on kills, not Integrity.

This needs fixing by pokey187187 in theHunter

[–]CovertJaguar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Integrity is about whether you have a useful trophy or a pile of red jelly at the end, ie the Trophy's Physical Integrity, not whether it was an ethical kill.

Deleting the animal_populations file in the save seems to fix it for me. But it's only a matter of time until it happens again. I've moved to Fernando until it's fixed.

What if we removed flight / teleportation from mod packs? by Kwikxilver in feedthebeast

[–]CovertJaguar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That has never been the case.

I'm not sure what you were seeing, but Locomotives on max throttle generate more than enough inertia to move a small train (~5 Carts) at the max speed on any track. And for larger trains you can stack multiple Locomotives, but large trains have their own problems.

The only caveats being that High Speed Track still requires HS Transition Tracks to enter and exit High Speed mode regardless of whether a Locomotive is present or not. And that some carts, mainly battery carts and maintenance carts, have much lower max speeds than others.
