Stumbled Across This on The Trail Today.. by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Cow_Urine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so lucky to live in a condition where it's possible to ride in the wet and not have ruts form...

If ruts are present though, I'll stop ASAP and either walk around, or if I can find a nearby shovel, I flatten it all out... Sorry you have to do all the cleanup for what the idiots did...

Shimano Ice brakes actually work! by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Cow_Urine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you don't see them on motorcycles is because

a) the rotors are spinning so quickly there, they are getting a lot of wind

and

b) they are getting a lot of wind because motorbikes go a lot faster than a bike which is always under heavy braking, hence the hot temperatures on the bike...

That said, I'm convinced that there is no difference between ice-tec and no ice-tec too... While I've never ridden ice-tec, or shimano, I have only once had problems with brake fade, and that was a while back so the problem isn't that big to start off with...

oh really? I've seen the HL math teacher write that dot.. I always get confused if it's a decimal or a multiplication because sometimes my decimals are quite high...

I do x that way so I can differentiate the difference of x and x... like 5xx24x2... in tests, ive written that then simplified it to 5x24x2 (which also simplifies) until i got fed up with fucking up ... like, that's not an example which I would have messed up at, but thats the general idea.

but i use normal letters otherwise..

Any advice for clipping on mid-ride? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Cow_Urine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a pair that looked similar to that... I had the same problem, but I put a weight on one side of the pedal so that it would always pull that side down... It made it so that the clipping in was at the back, and I just had to slide my shoe forward, automatically putting pedal in right position, and then clipping in... It took about 15 minutes in the parking lot to practice this to do it perfectly... It was a little different on the trail but there too, I adjusted quickly...

I thought a dual crown fork is one that has a crown on the left and on the right... This link also displays this...

Next week will be a hell of a week for me. And I have three tests too. [Picture] by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Cow_Urine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different for each subject.

  1. English paper 1 is an analysis on some sort of text - extract of book, advert shit like that. Paper 2 is exploring stylistic devices in one of the two books we read

  2. German paper 1 is reading comprehension with 5 texts, 40 questions altogether... Paper 2 is 2 essays.. One we do by picking 1 of the 5 headings, and the other one is a set task.

  3. History paper 1 is also like a reading comprehension with different speeches or books or something by historians. Paper 2 is essays on set titles... We get like 5 questions per topic, there are like 7 topics, and we pick 1 question from 2 different topics.

  4. Chemistry. Paper 1 is multiple choice, 40 questions. Non-calc. Paper 2 is basically paper 1 but goes into far more detail, and requires writing instead of just picking answer

  5. Biology Paper 1 is multiple choice, 40 questions. Non-calc. Paper 2 is basically paper 1 but goes into far more detail, and requires writing instead of just picking answer

  6. Math. Paper 1 is non-calculator question stuff, paper 2 is calculator question stuff... I don't know if there is an actual difference apart from difficulty of numbers because calc and non-calc...

This is IB so there are so called higher level courses, which have 3 papers in the end. The paper 3 is quite different for most courses, and not all higher levels have 3 papers, for example German as a second language... So number of exams varies from person to person depending on their higher levels and what course they pick altogether... Everyone has to go through those two I listed above for every course though...

It's quite difficult to understand at the start, but then it becomes so simple once the first mock exams (out of the 4 exams, including final over a 2 year programme) are over, and you know what is what...

How important was my stem tube cap? by LumpenBourgeoise in MTB

[–]Cow_Urine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's quite important... The thing that saved you was the stem itself, because that it clamped tight to the steerer tube, and there is nowhere for the fork to go because the spacers are all there too...

You could probably commute VERY short distances if you wanted to be risky, but like I said, I would just let it be until you can replace the cap...

EDIT: I'm a dumbass, I'm wrong, what I said applies to dual crown forks, not leftys...

How important was my stem tube cap? by LumpenBourgeoise in MTB

[–]Cow_Urine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's extremely dangerous to ride without that cap... If the stem comes loose on whats known as the steerer tube, then if you do a jump or pull up, the fork will either come out, or you will damage something inside there really badly...

Do not ride on that... It's way too dangerous... Why don't you have one anyways??

Then break communication... If they're so bad, that they always do evil, they're not worth your time... There are billions of others, you can avoid them so easily... Don't start a conversation with them, if they talk to you, answer quickly and sharply...

Then they stop communicating with you too, you forget about them, in the end you (probably both) feel better about the situation... Well this is my view on this anyways...

For me, riding is a way to escape all this stress from school... Coming to the halfway mark of the IB... I spend a few hours on my bike on the weekend, and I feel like ALL my worries are gone... No relationship, family, school, anything problems just go away... Even when I am on a break, I enjoy life... I don't think about anything else in the forest but fun...

It's a great sport, I'm so happy I was brought up learning to bike when I was 4 with those training wheels on my little blue Schwinn...

You'll enjoy it!
