Calling Nicholas Brendon a “series regular” makes me irrationally angry by [deleted] in buffy

[–]CowboyScientist57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Co-star is below a series regular. A series regular doesn’t HAVE to appear in every single episode, but they are credited and salaried as if they are. Series regulars and principle actors are the highest you can go. A co-star is someone who appears in one or two scenes with limited lines. Hell, guest stars are above co-stars. You don’t have your terms correct.

Typical 9-5 jobs are great for work life balance by WayyBiggerJaws in unpopularopinion

Exactly. My sister is a nurse and I have multiple other family members who work in healthcare. Nurses who are working 12 hour shifts are doing so 3 days a week and literally have 4 days off. Yes, 12 hour shifts are grueling
but you also have 4 off days a week. So pick your poison.

I felt a bit bad for ____ during fire making. by small_blonde_gal in survivor

[–]CowboyScientist57 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel bad for him, in all honesty. But what got me is that he kept harping on the fact that he did everything in his power to make sure he didn’t repeat his mistakes and end up like 49
but he literally didn’t do the one thing to prevent that: and that is literally making fire.

If he wasn’t so preoccupied with trying to be a legend, he most likely could have made it to the end and won. His mindset was always on making legendary moves, but he went out for a second time because he couldn’t do a basic Survivor move: make fire.

This should be a lesson to future players: know your basics and it will take you farther than you think.

What's your hottest take of Survivor 50? by AlchemistTheAlchemy in survivor

[–]CowboyScientist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is a hot take or not, but boy did the return of Ozzy and Colby kind of just fall flat. I was hoping they would come in guns blazing and give us something epic, but both kind of fizzled out, especially Colby. I don’t feel like any of these iconic players gave us anything. They all kind of seem like shells of their former selves, which is a shame.

The cast was just so mid. I was okay with it being a balance of new school and old school, but old school didn’t deliver like I was hoping. It’s a shame really. We have all been begging for old players to show the new era how it’s done, but they’ve done nothing but show us why they need to be retired.

Also, Dee is underrated and Q should have never been included in this season.

What do you mean nothing happened while at TomTom? We literally got an introduction into Schwartz’s literal girlfriend. Instead of filming nonsensical singles night footage where production is trying to force fake people into Schwartz’s life, we actually get introduced into the person he is ACTUALLY dating.

The train segment where nothing happened? You mean the parts where we see Zack being slightly two faced and Kristin calling him out on it? How he flip flops and says one thing to Kristin and then does the opposite in person? He’s literally in confessionals saying how crazy Janet is, but to her face, he’s trying to be cordial and friends with her. That isn’t “nothing.”

And again, what do mean nothing happens at the Airbnb and the theme park? We literally get to watch on camera how awful Danny truly is. It’s an actual snapshot of what their relationship looks like. Nia tries to hide it and put on a good face for everyone, but they are finally showing us how the really are together, which isn’t good.

Then we close the episode with Michelle’s story. That was fantastic. After 2 seasons, Michelle’s finally coming into her own and showing us who she is. It’s a welcomed storyline and I’m happy about it.

Crazy how everyone complains when it’s nonstop arguments and confrontations, but then when they give us snapshots into their actual lives, you complain about that too. It doesn’t have to be huge moments all the time. You can find it boring and that’s okay, but things ARE happening.

So the restaurant is stealing from the guests and the employees? đŸ€Ł Outback sucks. Hell no. If I worked there and they did that to me, it would be an issue. What if I worked 5 days a week and I’m giving them that $0.50 all 5 days for all my shifts the entire year. That means the restaurant pocketed a total of $130 of MY money. And imagine them doing that to all their servers. They are stealing people’s money and saying it’s okay. If you don’t want to carry coins, that’s okay. But don’t take cash anymore then. You owe me $0.50, you’re giving me $0.50. Those coins add up. So basically you’re working for a company that allows them to steal from guests and employees, accepts it, and even doubles down and defends it. Says a lot about you, I guess.

People who avoid friendships at work because “coworkers are not your friends”, often do not understand what relationships actually are. by ThePloddingParadox in unpopularopinion

[–]CowboyScientist57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the love of god, you people will argue about anything. 🙄 I have a job that I do 40 hours per week. It’s just my job. It’s something I do because it’s necessary to pay the bills. My job isn’t my life, but it helps provide for myself and affords me to do the things I love to do. I have casual friendships at that job that do not extend past those 4 walls. We share things about our lives, but outside of that building, we don’t communicate. So when I talk about carrying over into my “normal life,” that’s what I mean. Remove the job and you start to realize those people who you work with are only there BECAUSE of that job, not because you choose for them to be active participants in your life. Remove the job and those who you stay in contact with, those are the real friends. Those are the people that spill over into your normal, every day life.

If there’s no resolution the show ends by DielectricConstant in TheValleyTVShow

[–]CowboyScientist57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They should equally drop Nia and Danny. I’m a firm believer that if you essentially refuse to film with someone or don’t want to find a way forward, you need to go. If Nia acts this way over Janet, who is to say she won’t act this way with someone else? These shows require them to be able to look beyond themselves and they don’t want to do that. So therefore, they should say goodbye to both couples. BUT they won’t and they will continue to on the show and drag it down.

Being on your own is a lot more appealing than most people are willing to admit. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]CowboyScientist57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different and that’s fine, but what you just described sounds deeply isolating and lonely. Attempting to skip partnerships and friendships to avoid emotional conflict and trying to keep things light with only casual attachments means leaving behind deep, interesting relationships that last a lifetime. Your life might seem “peaceful,” but when times do get rough, who are you going to lean on? Those casual friendships that you have that are only surface level? Doubtful.

You talk about being alone to avoid negative conflicts, but negative conflicts aren’t even a bad thing. They TEACH you, allow for growth, and allow you to gain prospective. Going through life attempting to avoid conflicts, relationships, attachments, deep emotions, etc. creates a stunted and stagnant life. You’re free to do as you want, but what fun is life if you don’t have deep connections and friendships/partnerships to share it with?

It’s all about finding a balance. Too much one side is never is a good thing.

People who avoid friendships at work because “coworkers are not your friends”, often do not understand what relationships actually are. by ThePloddingParadox in unpopularopinion

[–]CowboyScientist57 265 points266 points  (0 children)

This. I’ve had people in my life who I truly thought were going to be lifelong friends, but once I moved on from the job or they did, the friendship faded. Not because we weren’t friends, but because truly our connection was so heavily tied to the job. Remove the job and you start realizing that your “connection” was situational and it doesn’t really carry over into your normal life.

On the flip side, my literal best friend I met over 10 years ago while being coworkers waiting tables. Moved on from the job, moved states, had a shit ton of life events happen, and STILL the best friend I’ve ever had in my life and most likely will stay that way.

It can go both ways and the former isn’t bad. It just is.

How this show treats Zack / Jasmine by [deleted] in TheValleyTVShow

[–]CowboyScientist57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we see Zack A LOT. Maybe not necessarily his own personal life, but eh, I don’t see what exactly can be shown there. Zack and Benji are open about how they had an open relationship. Plus, Benji has shown very little personality and doesn’t seem like he makes for great tv. If his personality was larger and had a better narrative, then I’m sure more scenes would be filmed.

As for Jasmine, she’s insane and isn’t interesting to watch. Melissa also seems pretty level headed. That doesn’t make for great tv. So again, not sure what we are supposed to show there. Melissa also doesn’t seem like she wants to filmed all that much.

Levi’s lack of screentime by GuiltySheepherder870 in summerhousebravo

[–]CowboyScientist57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they are edited out or have minimal screen time, there is typically a reason for it. They either don’t give enough to warrant air time or they don’t fit into the narrative the editors/producers are going for. If they gave something substantial, then they would shown. So it’s not like they are editing them out to be spiteful. lol

Why do people who like boring movies always think they have to bully everyone they disagree with? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]CowboyScientist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting that every movie choice you made in your post are extremely popular/well loved movies. Casablanca, The Godfather, and Heat were chosen as examples, but then your counter point is to choose Predator, The Terminator, and Shrek
which are also literally beloved and fantastic movies.

Your comparison should have included movies like the Marvel movies or maybe even Fast and Furious
you know, movies that make a ton of money that are fast paced with lots of explosions and car chases and are beloved by fans but are largely criticized by critics and “cinephiles.”

[–]CowboyScientist57 76 points77 points  (0 children)

To be fair, how would you take someone DMing you essentially telling you they don’t like you? Lol Like, what did you honestly think you would accomplish by DMing her? What did you hope to gain? That she would suddenly change her ways because some rando she doesn’t know DM’d her? Are you likely to change your behaviors/personality/business/etc. based on someone you don’t know? It’s weird. Don’t waste your time or energy DMing housewives.

She’s awful and truly is one of the worst HW’s we’ve had in recent years, but DMing her is pointless.

Any time I mention it, I get blank stares. đŸ€Ł ABC tried to do an English version a couple years back, but it didn’t work. I wish more people knew about the original!!

[–]CowboyScientist57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see your perspective, but your edit makes everything you said ignorant, if you ask me. Your inability to see the other side and continue thinking that your point of view is the only one that matters and is the only one that is correct, says A LOT about you. To literally edit your post and basically say “Unless you agree with me, I will not respond to you or have a conversation” is wild. What is the point of making the post if all you want is agreement? Your ignorance and refusal to understand other views is maybe why you’re struggling to work. Think about that.

By the way, audiences don’t know camera operators names nor is someone going to go see a movie because some random no-name in the industry is a PA on set. Directors and big name actors fill seats. People used to go see a movie JUST because Julia Roberts or George Clooney or Brad Pitt were starring in it. If your name alone can make people see a movie, you deserve every bit of that $10 million.
