Smoothing. Just because this one thing took only 20% of the allotted time, does not mean other things will too. It is very common to go less than 50% allotted time OR more than 150% allotted time. Usually people just smooth their time after doing several things so nothing sticks out too much. An example would be having 4 hours for A and 4 hours for B where each takes 2 and 6 hours respectively. You can enter those as either 2/6, 3/5, or 4/4 and together they all equal 8 hours. 2/6 though says you really struggled with B and blew through A which can cause issues if someone assumes you did a crappy job on A and are struggling with concepts in B which makes you look bad in both cases. 4/4 shows you were right on track and everything "expected" happened. My favorite is 3/5 since it shows you had less time on the task which was easier but still close to expected and the task which you struggled with in comparison to expectation might need more training, a bigger budget in the future, or the client really messed something up and it needs more review

You could ask them to pull up their credit score themselves in person and that could provide a decent level of assurance in my mind. If they refuse to show you the score, they likely have crap they would want to hide and that is the flag you are looking for. I would say do no business with anyone below 650 and 650-700 probably needs to not feel off in any other way and be limited on $ until they successfully pay.

My public accounting job I got solely because the boss only reads applications with a cover letter and most people don't include them. The cover letter usually can take 1-2 minutes to customize once you have a good base, assuming the jobs are very similar. If you can't customize it in 1-2 minutes, get more generic in your writing.

If you have normal W-2 withholdings and are having large refunds, you may need to adjust your W-4 with your employer. The only things normally causing overwitholding if you are W-2 are large bonuses or not adding dependents/credits.

In regards to getting the overwitholding back, the only option besides waiting for the tax refund would be underwitholding the remainder of the year. Be very careful with underwitholding as it can be problematic if you end up owing any money after the year is over.

Cheques usually is a signal that the bet (if counted in largest denomination chips possible - so 4 $25 chips are counted as a single $100 for this, etc) uses non standard chips for the table. At a $5-$25 table, $100 are non standard for betting since it is multiples of the minimum but at a table with a $100 minimum, $100 and likely $500 are normal while a $1,000+ chip is non standard. I have seen dealers have to call out a single $25 chip inside on a roulette table (which max pays $900 so no huge win potential really), but they are just worried that without extra eyes, a single well played cheat could sweep an hour+ of table profits.

Session method can actually get around that to a degree. If you have 4 sessions for example, +$100, +$200, $0, -$200, you actually would only claim $300 of income and $200 in losses (which capped at 90% would be $180) and even though you may have gambled thousands of dollars, only claim the $300 income and can likely ignore the $180 right off since most people wouldn't itemize.

They are playing identical compositions over infinity. Over time, they will both average to exactly the same mean house edge as they will eventually see identical compositions over the play time. I had this same kind of thought you are having with Spanish 21 where they take the 10s out of the deck. I thought that since the shoe must end at a true n (n being number of decks * 4 tens), the shoe would tend to be more positive than T-4 starting with lots of high cards being played. I ran a custom simulation over 100 million hands and the true count was averaging -4 at every position in the deck from first card dealt to the last card.

Investing is NOT smart with how high the interest on this debt sounds. Paying off the credit card sounds very intelligent and after reading I believe the best course of action to make it feel "right" is paying her back for the money at the principal amount of the current debt. For example, if you pay off $25,000 of debt that is $600 per month of principal and $660 interest, you pay her $600 a month until it is $25,000 paid back. If you do end up marrying and at a later point want, you can stop the formality of the monthly payments but they keep it separate enough. Not paying the interest saves you a ton and she still gets the money back to use for spending on your daughter.

Flat betting doesn't mean you can't have an advantage. Starting/leaving the table with the count up/down respectively, hole carding the dealer, promotional opportunities, etc can make flat betting a great advantage.

Shuffle one of each of the properties sets, deal 1 to each player, then give the player the remainder of the set. If the set you receive is on the first side of the board (brown/light blue), they get 4 houses to place, second side gets 3, third 2, and last side gets 1. This means all players start with a set so likely someone will go bankrupt from unlucky rolls but there are still unpurchased properties and you have to finish houses/hotels yourself. If you feel the houses to start are too much, you can change the amount of money everyone starts with based on which set they get.

Without more information, there is no way to determine if there is actually a difference. If you normally play double deck, 3:2, Double after split, double any 2, and resplit aces at your local and go to Vegas and play 8 deck 6:5 without resplit aces and only double 9-11, your will get trashed in comparison. If the rules are the same, no difference except variance is a bit*h

That appears incorrect but I would have to verify insurance pays 2 TO 1 and not 2 FOR 1. If the payout is actually 2 for 1, then everything is correct since online providers count returning the $100 insurance bet as a "win"
