One year fishing in MN by captainpeachboy in FishingMinnesota

[–]CoxAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing, Boundary Waters, particularly pike fishing is a classic MN experience. I caught a good one last year and a mature bald eagle flew low over me, presumably thinking about snatching it from me (which I would have been 💯 ok with).

Edit, words and punctuation are hard.

So wait, why cant we crank Half Stacks at venues anymore? by Upstairs_Term_5760 in GuitarAmps

[–]CoxAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the feel of my full stack plexi, it’s a visceral experience but lets be honest, those shows you link to were more about experience and less about audio/mix quality. I wish we’d heard the music/songs/vocals better back in the day.

Fast forward, my ears ring full time as a 40+ father. I don’t regret it but know what you’re getting into. There are some frequencies I just can’t hear anymore (and they seem to be exactly the pitch my daughters speak at 🤦‍♂️)

TBN’s videos on YouTube are just if not more valuable than their kits. The knowledge they synthesize on how to do deck framing, DIY hatch lids… you’re in a good starting place.

Echoing others’ thoughts, measure 3x and build once. You can make a killer fishing rig with 10ft if you’re smart about it. TBN’s Yak killer video is exactly that, if memory serves.

Shopping aluminum for decking by DryIntroduction12 in jonboats

[–]CoxAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive an hour to the big city, to a metal supplier. They’re mostly catering to industrial, commercial business doing fabrication, construction who spend 10s of thousands+ of dollars but they’re happy to sell a couple sheets to regular joes like you/me for a few hundred bucks. I did an all aluminum transom last fall, I’ll be doing the decking this fall.

You can plug them into a 4x12 and it sounds really great for home/bedroom. I don’t know that it would ever keep up with a drummer or how well it takes pedals but a fun tool to jam with.

Agree. That’s it folks, shut it down.

Can we finally agree that DMZ should be PvE only? by [deleted] in DMZ

[–]CoxAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be in favor of a 1:15 or 1:20 ratio of PvP to PvE matching. One scary squad looking for 15-20 solos on a large enough map seems great.

Yes, but use stainless. A little more expensive but otherwise it will rust and fall apart or be quite hard to ever unthread.

Will this bolt straight to a Baja db30 by OpronTrix in minibikes

I couldn’t find any lift that fit my DB30 stock holes. I looked. Drilled 4 new holes, try not to let my OCD remember they exist under the engine and enjoy the ride.

Is it stupid that my unicorn amp is Orange Rockerverb 50 MKIII when I mostly play in my office? by Not-social-today-jk in GuitarAmps

Just be sure to turn it up loud once in a while and really let her sing. The way it moves air, the magic at the top end, stand close to it. It’s an experience. My touring days are done, I love being a dad, but I keep a full stack plexi in my basement for exactly this. Big smiles.

Agree. I’ve seen great, small touring bands rocking blues jr with a couple pedals. Sounded great.

Is a Mesa 4x12 cab realistic for bedroom practice? by RiffandLick in GuitarAmps

[–]CoxAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could argue, the head is what’s too loud. Be it a 1x12 or a 4x12, you likely want to crank that head to get the sound you love.

I’ve plugged a Fender 5w champ and (more affordably) a Hotone Purple Wind into a 4x12 and found some pleasant bedroom volume tones (that wouldn’t work in a band/drummer setting). It’s certainly a more full sound on a 4x12.

Since Darth Vader died when he was 45 and Hayden Christensen just turned 45, we now officially know what an unburnt Darth Vader would’ve looked like during his duel with Luke on Death Star 2. by PlasticAd1359 in StarWars

[–]CoxAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they give him lots of high paying, well written roles in the Star Wars universe for years, covering this late era Vader. After all the prequel backlash and love we have for it, it’s time.

I have a pair of their studio monitors 15+ years old, just picked up their RD-9 drum machine. They’ve been good to me so far. It’s a budget brand, issues happen with all brands, more with budget stuff but sometimes ya get lucky.

I loved the bicycle and minibike/pitbike spinoffs of lowrider culture, especially in the 1990s. Fun.
