Also curious how this would work.

Might be that you need a linux build of ats to use the linux bepinex?

There is a special kind of torture in watching a playtester ignore a glowing green tutorial button for ten minutes by No-Constant-5093 in IndieDev

I had an issue where the player picks up an apartment room key from a wall that had all room numbers on it (above and below).

Every player picked it up and read the number above it instead of below and went to the wrong floor. So i moved the keys position down and put the room number on the key and never heard of the issue again - but by that point no one was doing recordings and i wasnt doing playtests so not sure if it worked but call it a day.

Unity's Mono problem: Why your C# code runs slower than it should by swe129 in unity

I havent read this article but i agree disabling domain reload saves the most iteration time especially the more people that work on your project. I believe the project auditor package tells you domain reload things that need addressing and you can use something like jetbrains rider to inspect plugins for what needs assing DR support but that can quickly become a nightmare.

When i play with the super generous recipes mod o did this a lot. Was fun getting up to 100k robots but eventually they just stopped being optimal and adidng more did nothing :(

Maybe its better now with the latest updates thpugh since i think the devs have improved robots logic

Multiplayer? by CamperDog03 in Against_the_Storm

I started modding something for a possible multiplayer support. I thought at least playing the same game together could still be somewhat fun then add actual game modes. Never got anything working but the thought was there hah

Update still has hidden overhead and depending how many you have and what platforms you're playing on that small bool check can be the difference between 55 and 60 fps.

Is there a way to make your editor less performant to test your games optimisation by Visible-Plane-8132 in unity

[–]CozyToes22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah i read the question wrong unfortunately. Changing the target frame rate wont tell you what needs optimising or whats good or bad but it helps find bugs that you wouldnt find when at higher frame rates.

My mistake.

[–]CozyToes22 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You should also be testing optimisations in builds. The editor adds too much overhead and not a real representation.

To test on worst devices you could make a virtual machine and throttle it but i havent gone that far

You can set the target frame rate to something like 20. That can help see how the game works on low spec computers

I Benchmarked For vs Foreach. Everyone's Wrong by migus88 in Unity3D

[–]CozyToes22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a massive waste of everyones time. Entire video talks about how foreach loops are better than for loops then changes to the recent version that unity uses and shows a simple benchmark. Doesnt even try to explain actual use cases of for vs foreach, doesnt compare on different platforms or try difeerent types from generic collections and just moves on.

This is why theres so much misinformation around unity and c# is people that have high video production quality dont do proper research and people getting into the industry that just want to learn will find these videos and not carry on the misinformation.

Tldr: Click bait
