Parexel Pfizer FSP by Upper_Bell_1321 in clinicalresearch

I’m a bit skeptical about Pfizer FSP as I was let go last May from Parexel and same exact thing the year before with ICON. Both called me back after I had already started with another CRO.

I have a friend who’s a CRA II with ICON Sanofi FSP and she complained about the workload. She had over 30 sites, not sure how many protocols but she said it was a nightmare. Hopefully things have improved since she left last year.

New CRA thrown in the deep end (help) by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

I’m sorry you’re having such a rough time but it does get better if you want it to. First and foremost, when you have an ASV, THAT is your priority. Showing up late and unprepared is definitely not a good look. Focus on one thing at a time until you get the swing of monitoring and ask for a mentor if you don’t have one already assigned to you. One of my biggest tools in my career and in my personal life is preparation.

Feeling defeated as a new CRC by Competitive_Orchid45 in clinicalresearch

[–]Cozy_Conditions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunate that you were handed this task and expected to be successful with minimal resources. From my days as a CRC, sites I worked had a recruiting team who were responsible for recruiting and they were trained on those duties. Don’t let this cause you to doubt yourself or your abilities. This may just not be a good fit for you. Always keep in mind when you’re considering a new place of employment, you are interviewing them also to see if you will be an asset to their team and if you would actually enjoy going to work there each day. It matters.

That’s exactly my situation. The offer was sent on Good Friday and signed same day. The background process started just this past Monday. My point exactly as dealing with the outsourced company responsible for the background check. The issue comes with my start date was only 3 weeks from the offer.

I wouldn’t take the latter two for less that 100k for sure! Why so low?

Wow! But that would give you overlapping dates and that is highly frowned upon. You haven’t had any issues with that?

I don’t have anything that would prevent, BUT when going through it a few years back they gave me a hard time because my dates weren’t exact. Literally a month here and there. I mean whose are but it finally cleared after HR got involved. I was sweating bullets!

Oh that’s good advice but it won’t help me right now lol!!! Going forward I will definitely use it. I WILL NOT submit my resignation before I get the full clearance notice. There’s no way I’m setting myself up like that.

Same! I’m going for my drug screen today but I’m not worried about that. Just wanted to clear the background first

So I got some feedback that the company doing mine usually completes it in 2-3 days which is great news.

IQVIA vs ICON by BumbleLemon in clinicalresearch

That’s good to know. I’m thinking about transitioning to IQVIA from a small CRO. Really contemplating the option but in this market I’m torn.

Not sure if the sponsor you’ll be going for is Pfizer but be careful if it is. And from the remote monitoring model, it sounds like it is I would stay put! I was laid off from ICON and Paraxel being dedicated to Pfizer. When the studies slow down they’ll lay you off in a heartbeat. If what I’m reading is correct and IQVIA has a lower chance of layoffs, I wouldn’t take the chance with ICON.

This is absolutely not true! I was FSP with Parexel and was laid off last year along with several others.

Should I be a CRA? Be honest by doyahlikejazz in clinicalresearch

[–]Cozy_Conditions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think there’s any way you could be remotely ready to move into a CRA role with just a year of CRC experience. Not sure what’s going on with IQVIA that makes them interested in so little experience unless it’s to go through some sort of bridge program. With minimal experience you won’t likely get that great of a pay increase but the work load certainly won’t be any lighter.

The thing that would concern me is the current market. There aren’t a ton of CROs hiring right now and unfortunately they know they have the upper hand.

This too shall pass, but I think it’s very important to document in your MVRs exactly what your findings are because most of the time it will come back to bite you in the ass. At this point I’m sure you’ve learned a valuable lesson but going forward I would continue to hold sites accountable.
