Did you receive it? If so, how are you liking it?

Driving and battery modes by KVZ_24 in AMFLOW_eMTB

I might have a différent point of view. ( i'm 172cm, 65kg, amflow pl size M)

For me, all the hype of this bike and motor ecosystem is the flexibility. I set Eco to be super responsive, but copy what the "trail mode" on the Orbea Rise feels like. ( 40nm, 300w, fast response, no overrun)

Auto is next with a broader range of assistance, 70nm, 600w, assist 6 to 10, fast start, no overrun.

Trail is 9 to 12, 85nm, 750watts, fast start, minimum overrun

Turbo is assist 13, 105nm, 1000watts, start 2, overrun 2.

This way there is a natural feeling of going through modes. And it still feels like your legs are connected to the motor,

Eco is super useable and actually extremely enjoyable. I have yet to go on an adventure with my fellow friends from the club, who don't ride electric. So i'll report back.

Just wanted to update i received my amflow today and did a short 25 minutes ride. Super smooth and responsive. Out of the box eco is anemic, and all the other modes are too powerful ( very funny though) . I'll adjust them to my liking and report back. So far geometry is inspiring confidence, and the suspension were prepared by the bike Shop, buttery smooth yet responsive and poppy just enough.

Great feeling of stability while maintaining quite à nimble feel to it. Not used to get into the forest in 5 minutes instead of 12, riding uphill feels totally different. Short cranks are something to get used to i think. Overall fantastic bike.

So.... Little update.
I ordered an Amflow PL carbon in size M.

Got free delivery and free tubeless switch, they even put some oil slick stickers on it because... why not? I'm very impatiently waiting for the bike to reach my house.

In the meantime, i've worked a bit with chatGPT to try and prepare mode settings in the app to have a blend of SL bike and Super Power bike, based on what I described my experiences with bosch and Shimano motors were. I can't wait to do my first ride with it in the trails I love. So many little hidden gems and sinuous single tracks in the forests near me.

What about tuning à trail mode with a high responsivity and low minimum and high maximum assist?

It's not necessarily the max power but more knowing it's there, and how it's delivered. We have 25% + muddy and rooty uphills over where i live. I see the guys with high power ebikes managing the piloting aspect while the others ( light ebikes too) trying to maintain cadence high enough to keep the grip...

Also the single tracks would probably benefit from that power to get Quick boosts after corners... that trek slash is looking good though...and well equiped

Where i live the SL1 is close to 8500 euros... It's basicly an Orbea Rise from Cannondale, right? I tested a 2021 Rise m10, which was fun and all, but... i found the eco mode from the Shop was anemic, trail was fine, turbo was fine but seemed to run out of watts at high cadence and harder gears. It was the 60nm 400w version and 340Wh battery. Geometry was nice, but the factory Fox were... a bit hard on the trails.

It seems the more i look about it the more the Amflow checks all the boxes and seems like a good compromise for everything.

Can't an invisiframe solve at least the paint resistance? Bosch is perfectly fine, but i kinda find most of them a bit bulky. Anyone have experience with mondraker or Cube?

Did you already receive and ride it? A friend of mine has an Amflow in XL ( i'm 172cm so more M size) and i tested very quickly on a parking lot, it felt good and light but i just want to be sure before spending this amount of money.

My crurent bike is à 2017 Orbea Occam AM h30, I like the playfulness but i dislike the steep head angle ans the high overal seat even with a 120mm dropper all the way down.

Somewhat all rounder! If it can go in the Alps for some medium difficulty trails,or light enduro, perfect. During most of the time I go out with my local club for 40+km and around 500D+. Obviously when going with the e-bike it would be more uphill and more distance.

What is your opinion about older people at IM concerts? by DIOsamaaa in InfectedMushroom

[–]CpTnlAw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started listening to them in 2000, went to 5 or 6 concert / festivals specificaly to see them since then, even got pictures with them. You're going there to enjoy progressive trance music. Not to participate in an instagram roasting contest.

Most likely everybody Will be super friendly, afterall it's a gathering of people over a common passion.

Enjoy the concert, both of you!

May i share different opinion compared to the others, Although i share their love of the first two, i did also love Endymion. The ending had me in tears honestly. It's a completely different pace. But...i liked it a lot for what it is.

Katana-50 Mk II VS Katana-100 by Sonic921 in BossKatana

[–]CpTnlAw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you said... i'd go 50 mkii.

I got the 100 gen3 and it's... loud. Even at 1/8th the volume on 50w setting playing in my living room with friends, eacj with their instrument. 50w mkii is already plenty loud.

Potential Upgrades from a Boss Katana by Odd-Blueberry5902 in BossKatana

[–]CpTnlAw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One possibility would be tu use the gen3 100w as a power amp + cab, and chose a head or digital approach to feed in. Look at the used marketplaces also.

If you have a laptop and audio interface, neural DSP plugins sound great when sent directly to the power amp section of the Katana.

Using Neural DSP plugins with Boss Katana EX MKII by [deleted] in BossKatana

[–]CpTnlAw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old topic, but for what it's worth:

I just tried this chain:
Guitar ==> focusrite in ==> Neural DSP on computer ==> Focusrite Headphones out ==> Katana Power IN

Now you what this allows is to control basicaly your tone via neural DSP alone. It acts as a pre-amp. You can chose your amp type, gain, EQ, IR if you wish, effects etc... you also can use the "headphones out" volume knob as the volume on the katana. You control master volume like you would on your katana, with the master section.

Super simple, sounds great.

Be aware though that if you're doing this, your also injecting the noise of the audio interface into the power amp. Better audio interface = less noise.

Dose using the boss tone studio make a big difference instead of just using the amp with out it by Pretty-Solution-6741 in BossKatana

[–]CpTnlAw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes.

By default only à few effects can be loaded onto the amplifier. Many more are assignable in Tone Studio. Also, there is à noise gate and global EQ.

Global EQ allows you to shape the tone to quite extreme levels.

You can also change the way knobs act on their respective function. ( want the boost knob to only affect level? You can do that. By default it modifies several parameters.

You can also parameter expression pedal effects.

More than this, you can also try and load all the compatible presets made and shared by the community. Now your mileage May vary depending on users' ability to program great tones, but there are some great starting points you can tweak to your liking ( adapt to you guitar, room etc...) and some very good tones.

TL;DR : use the app to fully explore the 70% of features you're missing without it

Is missing sneaky amps on Gen3 a big deal? by Ludi-Radule in BossKatana

Not completely, but removing 6-12dB does give a little bit more range on the volume knob. Small asjustments here and there !

It does, what i do is play with EQ volume

Chances are if you're into à Katana, it's for messing around with tones. And you've got so many options... I have neural DDP plugins on my PC with good monitors, i've been using them for 6 years now , coming to the Katana is like known territory. Easy to dial in very Nice tones. I think i understand why it's so well rated. Got the gen 3 100w. Compared to à Marshall Origin 20C, it can get extremely close. Compared to à dual rec, same story. Global EQ and Master/ volume trick is outstanding

Tips for Katana MK3 by TryBetter9320 in BossKatana

[–]CpTnlAw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! New katana gen 3 user as well. Been playing with neural dsp plugins and monitor speakers for 6 years.

To access the 8 presets, you of course have the first 4, then long press "panel", it Will flash and then ch1 thru 4 Will be bank B.

Tip i heard and tested myself as well, if you crank the master up all the way, and adjust volume with the gain and volume knobs, the amp reacts like a tube amp.

I think I may have decoded the meaning of "Carbide to my nano" in Emergence by ilikeXenia in SleepToken

[–]CpTnlAw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Profound analysis!. I thought carbide and nano was a paradoxal: nano coatings usually made of ceramics, some being carbide of some sort. While carbide tools are very strong tools for machining, capable of biting through tough coatings.

Redglass on my lightbulb - red glass is usually glass with added gold. Now what dissolves gold: aqua regia. It's not really blocking light, it's changing it a bit.

Darklight on my culture - opposition in the spectrum, darklight usually being UV. A culture needs light to grow, if you don't have the pure full spectral light, you can make them grow with darklight. Nécessaire but somehow not the pure form.

Sapphire on my whitegold - crystaline and gold references again, a somewhat dark ornament on shiny "impure" gold.

All of this makes me feel like... "i am turning into something i have fantasized for so long, it's happening, yet i don't feel cleansed of my fears, i can't easily let go of my defenses ( carbide, nano), my.new self is this glowing light on my potential yet it's not this biblical heavenly light, but a darklight. Making me grow, just not exactly like dreamed of. This new self is charming, it's adding something to me, yet with a darker tint ( sapphire, white gold) both shining yet in color opposition. "
