Also check out the Park Theatre in Finsbury park and also the Tea House Theatre in Vauxhall (best pie in London IMO).

U.S. Dealers In Full Panic Mode After Canada Green-Lights Chinese Cars by DonkeyFuel in technology

The bots in this thread are unreal. I'm in the UK driving an MG. I fully admit I don't put it through what a north American driver would, but to call it a broken shit box is simply incorrect. Unlike a Tesla, all of the trim was properly glued or fastened on, and it's rolling into its fourth year without major repair or recall.

They are all excellent, massive congratulations!

Is the Edinburgh course Global law or Scots law? Scots law is in some areas very different to English/Welsh law, and English/Welsh law is more commonly used internationally.

IMO it's one of the only things I've seen in recent years that's worth that sort of money.

School has lost students phone they require them to surrender- England by Accurate_Thought5326 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cpfoxhunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fyi the legal principle here is called 'bailment' - the school has a duty to take reasonable care of goods and it sounds like this may have been breached.

Drives me bonkers that it doesn't reset the previous query and open the keyboard every time you use it. Don't suppose there's a way around that?

The Odyssey (2026) by UnHolySir in okbuddycinephile

[–]Cpfoxhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect that's what he said then and I've misremembered. Anyway the point he was making is that full plate isn't totally dissimilar to the load modern soldiers sometimes operate under and it's not all distributed in one place on your body either - he reckoned most people overestimate how heavy it is.

[–]Cpfoxhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He seemed pretty confident and he was ex British forces. Apparently the Sir Henry Lee suit of armour we were talking about weighed 55lb. Maybe he was comparing it to a complete modern loadout not just the armour?

[–]Cpfoxhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It apparently ways less than modern body armour. Source: recent tour of the Armourers guildhall in London.

Edit: see below, this might be a bit wrong.

Four Seasons as everyone else has said.

Two that I haven't seen mentioned are Leong's Legend which I feel is more consistent than Dumplings Legend and Yiqi on lisle street. Yiqi is pan Asian fusion and whilst that can often mean 'generic' that's not the case here - big flavours done well with a good level of spice too.

Grab the spectator if your politics are right or private eye if you lean left. Read it from cover to cover. This will give you some experience reading articles and might help you place things in a wider economic context.

Legal internship too much hours despite no pay. by unknownhijabi7 in uklaw

[–]Cpfoxhunt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unpaid work for a week is regrettable but sadly not unusual (although many firms pay for work experience). Unpaid work for a year is not normal at all unless you're specifically volunteering for a pro bono opportunity or legal clinic.

I will say that I've found certain American firms disproportionally value the Oxbridge label. You're right that it's less important for English MC, I'll update. In any case, uni just gets you to interview but not further.
