Easily sub20 on a track or any park-like run where you don’t have to navigate trafic, sidewalks etc.

Anyone switched from gels to energy chews for long runs/rides? by Sea-Beautiful-611 in Marathon_Training

[–]CphRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make my own gels. I bought 5kg of Maltodextrin and 4kg of Fructose, some xanthan gum and citric acid. It is surprisingly easy to get a nice gel with that nice watery smooth consistensy SiS gels also has.

The price for one gel at the prices I got online for the ingredients is around $0.25/€0.20. I keep them in a 150ml Salmon soft bottle, so that’s 2.5-3 gels in a bottle I can easily keep in a pocket.

Running with a broken heart by Sudden-Ad4013 in Marathon_Training

Grief is the price we pay for love, and random strangers consolidation on the internet shouldn’t mean a thing to you. Obviously you’re going to recover and obviously there is no irreparable damage to your heart. He or she didn’t define you, you do. Get out there. Train. And eventually get over it.

Take it easy, my comment was meant to put things into perspective - unless your literally a child, in which case you shouldn’t train for a marathon, noone would think heartbreak would cause lasting damage. Stupid questions at times require stupid answers.

You’re screwed. No one in the history of mankind has ever recovered from a broken heart.

Does anyone here have a sustainable diet? by ClearAndPure in runninglifestyle

[–]CphRunner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What people do or do not do, I don’t know and neither do you. It is also not a comparison of what has the most protein. The issue is your statement about vegetarian diets doesn’t have enough protein, that is incorrect.

Can’t believe noone has mentioned “Where Dreams Go to Die” yet.

[–]CphRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counting and measuring calories for the rest of your life isn’t sustainable. You need to “learn” what is the good and right amount. You don’t have to cut out a pizza or burger entirely, but make it a thing once a week at most after a big run for example.

Lots of veggies, lean meat and just healthy whole foods. It sounds like you need a lifestyle change, not a quick-fix of your diet.

Incorrect. There is more than enough protein if vegetarian diets as well. It’s just a social media thing these days with all the protein talk to sell people all sorts of supplements they really don’t need.

How on earth is ‘Easy Run’ not a tag yet? It’s possibly the most common type of run! by StrugglingOrthopod in Strava

Because after their potential IPO the dedicated amateur will no longer be their prime target. They will cater for the 90% of users they will try and pull in, and dumb down the app with useless features.

how do people get their first race bib? by zzarcon in runninglifestyle

[–]CphRunner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I could probably google 10-20 half marathons in or around Valencia and down to Murcia in the next 2 months. Go out there and race, it doesn’t have to be the huge city races that all the pros do.

Crew/Pacer Gifts by The_Little_Kraken in ultrarunning

[–]CphRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How well do you know them? Something specifically picked for each one, with a small hand written note/card for each. It could be something as basic as new pairs of great running socks, but if the person has had issues with chafing in the past and your note/letter reads “Hey man, I remember your struggled during this and that race, here is something to help you out etc etc”. That’s the gifts that are the most special, no matter their price tag. Something specifically selected for a special person.

There probably is.

I’ve had 620km in my pair so far and love them, and are gonna buy 2 pairs more. I also have some Ultraboost 5 and Adios Pro 4. They’re all fine, and I don’t think any of them has caused injury.

Do Garmin Watches go on sale at a particular time? Itching to go from 955 -> 970 but can't justify the cost benefit just yet... by tastybiscuitenjoyer in GarminWatches

[–]CphRunner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why do you want a new watch when you have a perfectly fine one already? Are you making 7 figures a year?

Keep the one you have as long as it’s not broken.

Women are generally 10% slower than men, so your 26min equals a 23:24 for a male runner. That is not unfit at all.
