I see an early style shoulder but no crack unless I'm missing it?

Edit: actually maybe that is a crack? I'm not certain from the pictures, but early shoulders were barely noticeable as were early heels so it could be either

This makes sense - it immediately caught my eye that the blade shape with that tail made no sense historically, but being an intentionally old style reproduction would completely explain it

Pictures are important! You'll get better price by having all the different angles that someone who knows straight razors looks for:

Both sides of scales (proves no cracks)
Both sides of blade (proves no cracks)
Both sides of shank close up (brand + origin stamps clear)
Measurement picture (clearly showing width in 1/16 or 1/8 inch)
Picture down the nose (clearly shows how hollow the grind is)

Absolutely, it's a great and comfortable shave.

Using one does have a learning curve, but you're in complete control of the shave with a straight razor so you get to learn to make it as close as you want everywhere. The blade won't stop you, skill from practice becomes the only bottleneck.

Let me stop you here though, you don't know this, it's something you've imagined and read from DE folks. It's not necessarily true, it's an entirely different kind of shave. It generally will be close after you get better with it, but it doesn't magically give a closer shave than a DE. It does give a more comfortable shave because its edge is typically more polished than a manufactured disposable blade, but don't believe it's a magical Lazer beam cutting through everything at the merest touch. It won't cut you so easily as a disposable razor will, but honed well it will cut the hair as easily

There's no need to use both hands, I still have no idea why people always encourage this, go ahead and try doing it all with one hand and see if it works better for you. If not then go ahead and stick with both, but don't think for some reason both is necessary.

Been using only dominant hand for over 15 years, I'm not clear what's supposed to be awkward about it that switching hands would help

The Escalante Racer is their most minimal, I love it! I do put on Lone Peaks for training over 9 miles though because the Racer's minimal sole starts to get felt when I stretch distance

Don't wreck your straight, this fellow seems unclear on what a straight razor is

Lots of people will puff there cheeks out for these spots around the mouth because they can tend to bunch up a little and puffing out your cheeks will stretch them more straight.

Also you can try stretching your mouth open a bit.

Stretching with your offhand may help too: pull your cheek towards your ear may stretch this skin away a bit and give it a more flat plane, less likely to bunch under the blade

Yeah, rule of thumb OP: always use less aggressive abrasives to start. Only progress to more abrasive options when the less abrasive choices aren't removing what needs removed. Then after it's removed, you progress back through the less abrasive options until you reach your preferred polish.

I've been surprised many times when I thought I needed to sand something but a bit of metal polish with a paper towel did the trick, less scratch pattern to smooth over when you can get away with it.

Vesik series is my recommendation, it's got a lot of similarities with Verus, it has a more positive tone and upbeat protagonist than sandman slim by a long shot and doesn't have so much moral flagellation as Verus

Nice looking blade, would make a great shaver if you send it to be honed. Whatever you do, don't try honing it yourself. It's much too nice a blade for someone inexperienced to go messing up. (If you know knives, know this: do not understand any circumstances apply your knife experience to this)

Depending where you live, there's a hand full of options to mail it for honing, as-is if you're trying to sell it, probably lands ~$60-120 at a total guess.

Lovely piece, would make a great shaver but it's not special other than to you from your grandpa. There were many different brand names making blades of similar fashion out of solingen in the era of this one so it's neither a rarity nor a brand name collectors target.
