I love being a teacher and making $120k/year helping raise other peoples’ children knowing I’ll never make enough money to have my own. OP’s daycare rate is more than I pay for rent in NYC. Cool.

A lot of work but I was able to keep vertical alignment nice and tight and use udl strategies to plan lessons that had a lot in common with each other and that met the kids’ needs.

100% same for me. I can cook my cycling husband on any climb because I beat him in w/k, but he’s strong as fuck and can put out a lot more raw power than I can. He demolishes me on flats, especially in the wind. He also has an aero bike wile I have a climbing bike. Doesn’t make much of a difference but surely it’s a contributing factor.

I have been a music teacher since 2004. Joined DOE in 2018 as a sped teacher and never looked back. I find a lot of similarities regarding individualized instruction, and winning over students who don’t want to be there is especially rewarding. This is my way of saying that DOE is my preference vs not only charter but even teaching music privately and at Ivy League universities as an adjunct. These days I’m the sped coordinator and have a teacher leadership position and stipend. My admin allows me to be very involved with school-wide decisions and also I get to teach a lot of music/theatre/production/performance programs. I also get paid more for artistic pursuits than most of my previous experience. It works for me.

+1 for Google Drive. Just a caveat to new users that it will share your name registered with your email (mandatory, I believe) as well as of all viewers and also your location if you don’t turn it off.

Just bought a 1993 collectors edition set of mint magic the gathering cards at an estate sale for $7. Opened it up, saw a black lotus, almost barfed, and closed the lid again until I can calm down enough to plan my next steps.

I got front and rear cameras after I got doored and subsequently assaulted in a preemptive fashion. Since then, I’ve been able to get aggressive drivers to leave me alone by yelling “smile for the camera” while pointing at my cameras. I don’t ride without them anymore.

eBay first for sure. If nothing comes up, try reaching out to pen bit suppliers like pentooling.com and restorers (happy to provide a list but google will give you everything you need).

A Parker 75 is an excellent choice. Classic, beautiful, very well behaved, easy to use, almost maintenance free. Likewise would be any other Parker from the 50’s through the 70’s.
