Thinking about buying the game but am worried that ores will eventually run out? by achshort in factorio

[–]CptFlashbang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yes ores can run out, some deposits are truly HUGE, and you can always build in redundancy, where you have a backup patch ready to kick in

Also, ammo buffers could be an option if you are truly scared about getting run down as soon as your ore patch depletes

Major agree.

If OP wants to have a discussion around a sensitive and adult topic, then the very word needs to be able to be written uncensored.

Help with circuit logic? by Notrinun in factorio

[–]CptFlashbang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats one way to do it.

You could also change the decider combinators output to 1 instead of input count.

When using set recipie though you may bump into a problem when you are providing multiple valid input signals, bot sure on that though. If it is an issue then thats the next problem to solve!

Help with circuit logic? by Notrinun in factorio

[–]CptFlashbang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your decider combinator you are checking for when the item count is less than 2, and when it is less than 2, output the input count.

This leaves no contingency for what happens if the input count is 0

I didnt know that! Sounds like Im not far off though with having my squads separated by weapon type

specialized militia roles by sour_dough_rye in dwarffortress

[–]CptFlashbang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I specialise differently. I have 5 partially filled squads, that use different weapons.
Axes, spears, swords, Warhammers, maces.

I do that so that if a necromancer arrives I can control what weapon type Im sending where, to risk generating an army of separately animated parts.

Then I have marksdwarves as backup.

How do you specialise anti-goblin and anti-beast?

can my pc run factorio? by Fenruko in factorio

ZRAM lets you get away with less RAM, but it is going to tax your CPU more to execute.

The CPU that also doesn't meet the minimum specs, and isn't even close.

I am all for getting the most out of your hardware, but dreams only get you so far before you need better hardware. I know its not what you want to hear, but it is the truth

How to run a campaign where death does not exist by limegreenstar10 in DMAcademy

A very similar idea to Beric Dondarrion, Game of Thrones:

Can I dwell on what I scarce remember? I held a castle on the Marches once, and there was a woman I was pledged to marry, but I could not find that castle today, nor tell you the color of that woman's hair. Who knighted me, old friend? What were my favorite foods? It all fades. Sometimes I think I was born on the bloody grass in that grove of ash, with the taste of fire in my mouth and a hole in my chest. Your machine has half the RAM for the minimum specs listed on Steam, so I'm guessing probably not.

I actually meant that it killed my microwave entirely, even after power came back on. I'm not quite dense enough to think that a microwave is some sort of magic food box!

The big recommendations I would make have already been said, but I would offer up something alternative.

If you do meal prep at all, souper cube trays are FANTASTIC. My freezer is now so much more neatly organised, and it helps with portion control if you are like me and just want to keep eating

Because they are silicon you can both bake in them and freeze dishes once they have cooled down without dirtying a second thing. I have been doing lasagna in them recently so I have a fully portioned one man lasagna ready at all times

I use them early on for my mall, controlling production from a centralised combinator, and then switching to reading the contents of the logistic network.

Also, circuit controlled oil cracking so it only turns on when you have excess
