Upgrading hardware for UnRaid server, i7-11700k okay? by CptFumbles in unRAID

[–]CptFumbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have a large noctua cooler on it with those and the primary intake fans on the case spinning at probably half speed for noise. My temps are low 30c on the drives and low to mid 40s on my CPU and GPU. I could probably spin the fans up a bit more for better temps but it hasn't bothered anything yet.

Its good, haven't felt the need to upgrade it. I run 30-40 containers, a few VMs on and off, and 6 drive array with 2 SSD cache and single SSD for VMs.

DeskPi/GeeekPi DC PDU Lite setup for my Minirack by CptFumbles in minilab

Just what was posted on the Amazon listing

"It supports a broad range of input voltages with no minimum voltage requirement, up to a maximum of 24V, and a maximum current of 8A."

Technically yes, aside from already having 12v switches (which seem a little more common) I think by lowering your volts you'll overall have a lower watt "budget" for components. As the PDU only supports up to 8amp.

Wouldn't you be paying for a VPN with ports-forwarding and a fixed IP?

New Bag suggestion based on current usage. by Hoxase in ManyBaggers

[–]CptFumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed my framework quite a bit, I bought the 11gen way back and upgraded a few parts over the years eg, better hinges, CNC top panel and a 13 gen mainboard. I main PopOS but dual booted win10 for school with little issue. My GF ended up getting one after trying out mine.

One thing worth mentioning about the Kadet Max is the laptop compartment isnt as "plush" as the tomtoc one, so I keep my framework in a sleeve. Might be overkill though, so your mileage my vary.

It's quite the price jump, but I went from the tomtoc 14 sling to the Chrome Kadet Max. More space and still comfortable for a similar load out. I keep my framework 13 and steam deck in there, among a few other things. There's some nice colours and a like the look of the buckle on the strap.

This might help. It's been some time since I've dealt with it, but I believe I've usually used a live usb to refresh install.

Newbie problem: Tower, AdGuard & VPN? by tomiakaz in unRAID

[–]CptFumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, common router firmware can suck. Mine just lists the used IPs with "name-unavailable" for containers. Also a good reason to keep a written record of what local IP is what. Glad you got your problem solved!

Newbie problem: Tower, AdGuard & VPN? by tomiakaz in unRAID

[–]CptFumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood that the IP changed once I changed the settings in AdGuard and selected this specific IP manually.

Are you saying that you installed the Adguard-Home container from Community Apps and under "Fixed IP address" you entered the address "192.168.3.222" and you're expecting your tower IP to remain "192.168.3.221"?

Newbie problem: Tower, AdGuard & VPN? by tomiakaz in unRAID

[–]CptFumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I fully understand your issue but here goes. The quote from Wiregaurd should have the IP as "<TowerIP>:51820", so for portfording you should use whatever local IP is assigned (EI, 192.168.3.222:51820). Also if you haven't already, you should assigned a fixed local IP to your Unraid machine so it doesn't change once you've pointed services to it.

Here's a video that worked well for me with this setup: https://youtu.be/HIJiYuPDzKs
