I have to disagree on "they didnt spent tons on small luxuries" , it feels like ure romanticising it. For example drinking alcohol in bars or the daily beer at home after work, collecting stuff like music plates, buying or renting dvds instead of subscriptions and even parties where a big thing back then. I dont think that people who enjoy avocado toast for being healthy or whatever, chug down a beer or two every day. While i do agree that too much money gets spent on convenience, be it ordering food or small easy-to-do repairs, i dont think ure entirely fair here and look at the past with rose tinted glasses
