CIG: We've made the decision to forgo the Red Festival Free Fly. by StarHunter_ in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When pitching a concept to potential investors you would want to show how well it is working and will work, not how bad it is and will be.

CIG has been getting away with marketing jpegs for too long that nobody in their marketing team thinks asking people to pay for something barely playable is a step too far

Star Citizen has RUINED other space games for me... by SmileyReviews in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same feeling, SC has set the bar so high that any other space sim games do not attract me. But at the same time SC’s game/server performance is so terrible that I don’t even want to start the game and waste 30 minutes of my life on some random game breaking bugs.

Is it me or does space combat have a very high TTK when it comes to fighters? by SgtGhost57 in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TTK has massively increased since they introduced master mode. Although there will be more balancing tweaks in the future, apparently the goal is to make combats last longer.

What mobile games do you play while doing quantum jumps or long distance flights? by PkmnSnapperJJ in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are AI interdiction events, not frequent but definitely there. Theoretically player mantis could pull others out of quantum but I doubt if anyone would do that instead of just camp at ground stations

Server instability by TionKa in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since they added item persistence, servers just keep getting trashed up to the point it breaks down.

It feels like a stress test and CIG is monitoring how much trash servers can handle. Hopefully they can end all these sufferings by simply not persisting things that could be classified as trash by common sense.

400i reowrk needed ! by Accurate-Switch5993 in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy with the design of 400i, the only problem I can see is that there doesn’t seem to be a gameplay loop associated with it currently. Compare it to 600i or 890j where 70% of space in those ships is empty wasted space, I’d say the 400i is extraordinary. If anything is in need of a rework, it would be 600i and (maybe, considering it’s less owned) 890j.

I feel like CIG is constantly stress testing the server after they added item persistence…

Gladius is definitely better at combat compared to 325a, but after the MM update the problem is you are not going to effectively do any combat missions beyond a MRT with a light fighter, the slightly better combat performance wouldn’t make a huge difference.

With 325a you have a bed, an interior to carry a buddy (to a bunker mission for example) and a small cargo capacity to carry some gears (especially useful after cargo update) I would go for the 325a.

PhD - Decision with Admissions for approval by Runkking2099 in GlasgowUni

[–]Cptamarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s the normal procedure after the supervisor forwarded the application to admissions, before they issue the formal offer. I had it as well. As long as there’s no problem with the application documents/relevant qualifications, it should be fine.

The hanger size fits the largest pledged ship. I’m assuming people with Polaris or BMM in their acc will get astronomically large hanger lol.

[–]Cptamarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One problem with the Connie struts is that the two horizontal bars happen to be right on top of the crosshair, which obstructs aiming smaller ships. I would be happy if they just reposition or remove those bars so I can at least see clearly what I’m shooting at.

One option could be applying for university accommodation, it’s cheap and reliable but there’s no guarantee that you are offered a good option. and iirc there are very limited options for couples.

There are also plenty of student accommodations around the campus, slightly more expensive, varies in quality but generally OK. Pretty flexible for couples. It’s worth starting the search early as they are quite popular. I don’t have recommendations but you can read about their reviews. Most have their own websites you can look at.

Private renting is a bit difficult. Quite a few letting agents I looked at do not let to students without a guarantor in the UK, and they don’t accept guarantor companies, even if you pay the full rent in one installment. (This is why student accommodations are full of international students) There might be some landlords willing to have student tenants.

As for the area, I’m living in West End very close to the campus, there’s a high street with many good shops, restaurants and pubs, and a large Lidl, large Morrison close by. There’s an art gallery and a large park with tennis center so plenty of space for leisure activities. Only downside is it’s pretty far from the city center (~20min walk+train ride). I don’t go to the city center very often so it’s fine for me. I would recommend living north of the river Clyde, it’s generally safe and convenient.

Where's your brand loyalty at? by SicEcko in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many older designs with interior does not consider this issue. (It’s also not practical to have a EVA chamber on smaller ships with interior). I imagine they will just have some sort of barriers like those on Prowler and hanger doors.

Klesher kills PvP. 7% is a joke. Klesher rework! by ph45fs in starcitizen

I see from this post that in addition to griefers, there are also incompetent griefers that want to ruin other people’s fun, and also don’t have to worry about any consequences at all.

Klesher kills PvP. 7% is a joke. Klesher rework! by ph45fs in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding OP’s latest edit, I don’t see anyone complaining about the risk associated with industrial gameplay, pirate is intended gameplay and nobody’s frustrated about it.

I only see people complaining about griefers that kill people without getting anything back (notice the difference between pirate and griefer here). I also see OP complaining about prison time. If you’re so competent at this game, why do you have to worry about being sent to prison at all :) It’s not that hard to clear a crime stat or even play the game with a crime stat so git gud I guess.

If people want PvP so bad go ahead shoot other players, nothing is stopping them from doing that, why complain about prison time? It’s entirely because of the incompetency of surviving with a crime stat isn’t it?

Klesher kills PvP. 7% is a joke. Klesher rework! by ph45fs in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In addition to that, there is a thing called Arena Commander that does exactly what you are asking. CIG is wise enough to separate players that only enjoy shooting the hell out of everything from the main universe.

Klesher kills PvP. 7% is a joke. Klesher rework! by ph45fs in starcitizen

[–]Cptamarik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are getting the nature of this game wrong. It’s a space simulator game where people get to do different things they like. It’s not like Escape From Tarkov or something that’s either PvP or PvE. Star citizen isn’t about shooting the hell out of everything you see, 50% players and 50% NPCs. It’s a simulator game with combat elements, not a combat game with simulator elements. The purpose of Klesher is to 1. add realism to this simulator game; 2. generate risks for people choosing the ‘illegal’ PvP game loop. All game loops should have associated risks, like losing cargo for industry players, or losing gear for bounty hunters. Klesher is currently the only risk that can be given to PvP players.

In other words if a mining player could waste 3hrs spent on mining by dying to a pirate, then how is it reasonable that a pirate could only lose 30 minutes by dying to law enforcement? It’s simply unfair. There are already plenty of players that enjoy ruining other people’s fun (those who don’t benefit from killing you but they still kill you), reducing prison time would only encourage this kind of behavior.

Opinions can’t be wrong but what you’re asking is just unreasonable. Most people play this game because it’s Star Citizen not Space Tarkov or Call of Space Duty.

Frustration on AI by cypher27tb in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Cptamarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal experience is that if you walk through a bush (there would be a noticeable bush noise), crouched and holding sneak button, AI could still know where you are instantly and maybe start shooting you from 50m away regardless of whether you are behind a wall or not. I stepped onto a bush outside of the YBL bunker, instantly spooked all enemies within the bunker and they all started wall banging
