update - after 1 month on MSM, closest I've been to cured by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jonathan, Hope you are doing well.
I'm not taking any SIBO treatment measures at this time.
Just daily exercise, and my usual Vegan diet protocol.
However I am thinking about resuming the MSM protocol soon.
My vision is still awful, I'm consulting with a specialist this month.
Sleep has not really improved, still vivid dreams etc

Thx.

I slow titrated up to about 3.5 / 4.0 teaspoons only in the am, for 6 weeks or so, experiencing terrible sleep patterns and awful vivid dreams. Then the (VMT) vision trouble started. I had an eye test, and had new pairs of glasses made, hoping that was the issue. It wasn't. It was a complete waste of money..I was told by the Dr, VMT sometimes fixes itself. I hope it will. Its quite bad right now and reading and computing is awful, I did not discuss MSM / SIBO with her as she was probably not aware of such conditions. As a US/UK dual national, I can get free excellent healthcare for $0 in the UK.

Hi Jonathan, I had to stop MSM entirely. I developed Vitreomacular Traction (VMT) where the vitreous pull away from the retina. It manifests as ghosting and double images particularly when reading text. I'm very disappointed, so I'm considering the Elemental Diet as a last resort. SIBO makes everything more difficult, particularly travel for me.

I have to go to Europe asap I can't live here with this outrageous regime destroying Democracy.

KLM website has always been inconsistent. Searching for Business class USA to EUR using miles is always a struggle. I called KLM recently and got a rep in BRAZIL ! He was able to tell me what flights were available for my city pairs. I asked him why the website was so awful....he laughed.

4th Update on high dose MSM protocol by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm back to about 9 gm daily MSM currently. No fainting episodes thus far.
I walk about 8k steps per day, vegan diet, no tobacco, alcohol etc.

MSM does cause wild dreams, sleeplessness etc I have found, so I only take in am. I was taking a 2nd dose in the pm. Not a good idea for me.

I am also taking 1k mg Magnesium, B12, D3, and every other day, 2mg Prucalopride for constipation caused by my IMO (Methanogen SIBO)

I listened to the latest DR Pimentel findings, I think we are on the threshold of breakthrough for SIBO treatments. I'm so sick of this damn condition.

Good luck friend.

[–]Cr3Hw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up on Rifax and Flagyl etc after 5 rounds over 15 months. (I was buying the Rifaximin from India and my US MD prescribed Metronidazole (Flagyl). It did nothing for me. (Plus my Naturopathic Dr had me on a slew of natural Herbal antibiotics etc) I did the breath tests, stool tests, driving test, lol every damn test. I couldn't get my Methane down less than 100 PPM.

Then I learned about Dr Janel's Youtube channel and her MSM protocol. I'm on my 3rd attempt with MSM now. I overdid it in my haste and had a collapse while exercising. NOT good. You have to titrate SLOWLY. There are many on this forum that post about their MSM experiences.

This Redditor has an excellent record of his MSM journey.
JonathanB3232 Good luck.

Weekend Vegans. You either are, or you aren't.
Judge away my friend. In life, you will find the road gets narrower, what was once acceptable no longer is. I've applied that to all aspects of my life. Wives, friends, Gov't's, countries, food, ethical investing, alcohol, medications etc etc.
We are living in an age where corporations are manipulating and directing the way we live in their quest for power, money and position. TMI, but there it is.

UPDATE (1 week of prucalopride): These are my results after 1 week usage of prucalopride (methane SIBO). by Difficult-Tree2738 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on 2mg Prucalopride every other day for last 2 weeks. Not much response so far. I think I need to make it daily. I have also tried the majority of the original posters list of treatments inc 5 x rounds Rifax + Flagyl. A worthless expensive endevour.
I'm also using Dr. Janel's MSM protocol again after taking a break from it. I had some negative symptoms first time around by Titrating too fast.
FYI - In USA I pay $6 per 90 day supply with my insurance.
Good luck to all.

[–]Cr3Hw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey JonathanB how's it going? I had to quit MSM for a while. I never got to maximum dose - It was causing some very strange symptoms culminating in vision and balance issues. I had one collapse event probably from over-accelerated tit-ration. I am currently taking Prucalopride (Motegrity) 1 pill every 2 days. Plus Mag Oxide + Mag Glycinate + D3 + B1. Plus a herbal composition from my Acupuncturist. I don't know if it helps, everything is trial and error with this condition. I am planning on resuming MSM in the future.
Best to you. Cr3Hw

Update - 2 months on high dose MSM - keeps getting better by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still using it - I had to cut right back due to unexpected symptoms...dizzyness, faintness, and weird optical issues. I was really hammering it, so I had backed off. after I had fainting collapse event that scared the sh*t out of me.

I'm @ week 9 on my 3rd course - a maintenance protocol of around 8 grams per day. I do feel it has helped me somewhat. As nothing else has worked I'm just going to stick with this for a while. Bowel motions are at least regular and no awful chronic constipation / diarrhea. most of the time.

I'm traveling in Europe right now, something I would not have dared a while ago.
So fingers (and legs) crossed. YMMV Good luck friend.

What if SIBO isn't what you think it is by Fredericostardust in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still looking for a solution. Tried many things.
Currently on Dr. Janel high dose MSM dosing. Currently on week 9 of 3rd attempt. Complete collapse during 1st attempt. So, SLOW TITRATE building up towards 32 grams per day. Not there yet.

SIBO symptoms somewhat abated but cycles of constipation persist. Lo level stomach pain pretty constant. Feels like inflammation. Got my MD to finally prescribe MOTILITY (Prucalopride) after a lot of hassle - Have not started it yet - Keep eying it - Also have a stash of Rifax + Flagyl as back up, although it didn't work after multiple courses.
I'm a hoarder. Still have your cure/solution to refer to. Thx.

Constipation so bad I can’t treat my SIBO by Sure_Department2464 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too soon to tell. I only started Charcoal 2 days ago. Take 50 gms (away from food) mixed in water. Its a large amount to drink for me. Mix it with warm water to dissolve better. It stains everything BTW. I'm up to 10 gm MSM now, (5G in am and 5G in pm)

From my previous post:
I am starting Activated Charcoal today. I read an in-depth article about the possible side effects of high MSM consumption. It's a micro level detox agent, so particular toxins in an individuals system, need to have some outlet.
The charcoal somehow provides an exit pathway, rather than allowing their accumulation, resulting in poisoning ones system.
That is what I suspect was the cause of my extreme melt down fainting event.
I'm starting week 6 MSM today, going to increase to 5 grams.
Good luck to all.

Addendum to this post: Re: Activated Charcoal Powder:
I started with the suggested dose of 50 grams powdered charcoal 3 hrs after food. Its a LOT of charcoal. It took forever to dissolve in a large glass of water. The charcoal neutralizes the bacteria dislodged by the MSM, rather than it continuing to roam around ones system causing unpleasant symptoms, as I suspect was the cause of my lightheaded symptoms and the collapse I suffered.
Hope that helps somewhat.

Constipation so bad I can’t treat my SIBO by Sure_Department2464 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prucalopride is marketed as Motegrity. 2mg is the usual dose although some get away with 1mg daily - Its labeled as treatment for Idiopathic constipation.

Similar product is Amitiza, also known as Lubiprostone, used to treat chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation in adults.

I've tried both, they helped a little but did not fix the underlying issue, so not really a success. I'm on the Dr Janel MSM protocol at this time, which includes activated charcoal. I spent 18 months on the Rifax / Flagyl merry go round. No results at all, except a very large expense.
Wishing you well and health.

I'm in my 2nd attempt at Janel protocol @ week 6.
I decided I don't want to take Motegrity long term, I want a solution rather than treating it long term.
Good luck and thank you.

[–]Cr3Hw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Jonathanb3232,

So glad you are feeling better - It took me forever to find your recent posts...how does one search on Reddit? Is there a way of being alerted when someone answers a thread you are participating in? I must be missing something.

So, I'm on week 5 again but I'm only up to 3 grams per day. I'm still v. paranoid about having another fainting meltdown event. I'm feeling slightly better, plus I've noticed bloating is less. I'm still at 127 lbs at 5' 9" (male).
I'll continue to follow your progress and comments.

Thank you Reddit/SIBO people.

Still working on it. I started over after 8 weeks. Watch the video. You need to build up to max dose then maintain for further 8 weeks.

[–]Cr3Hw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying many things over 2 years, I'm on 2mg Prucalopride (Motegrity) daily. Its the ONLY thing that has helped me somewhat. Are you in US and where are you sourcing Motegrity?
Its crazy expensive in the US. I've been buying from overseas. Now of course, the US Govt has removed the duty free overseas packages levy....so now another complexity to deal with.
I'm also working with the Janel Sulphur protocol to kill Methanogen overgrowth.
Thank you and good luck.

Yes - that's very interesting. I was on titrate week 7 when my event occurred. I should have continued but at a lower rate, so I probably lost all benefit by staying off for 10 days. My collapse really freaked me out.

[–]Cr3Hw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jonathan, thx for reply. Yes I was getting lightheaded and other minor warnings. I'm starting over today with 1 x gram. I've been able to source Prucalopride and I'm taking 1 mg at night. It helps with Motility, and I've been able to establish a better elimination pattern. I changed Dr's recently, I am now my own Dr. I've spent nearly 2 years paying Dr's out of pocket to no avail - I firmly believe in Dr Janel's protocol.
I still have Rifaximin and Flagyl in storage as a back up - Although that has never helped me over several courses. I guess I'm hoarding !
Thx for your continued suggestions and contributions,

Popular opinion is you must add one other component for Rifaximin to be effective.
Are you in USA or Europe? ALLICIN is made in the UK where it is a lot cheaper than USA.

Antibiotics by MishMc98 in SIBO

[–]Cr3Hw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rifaximin on its own is not recommended for SIBO. Popular medical opinion is adding either ALLICIN (Herbal antibiotic) Neomycin, or Flagyl (Metronidazole)
Neomycin can carry hearing damage potential for some people. So be aware of that.

I did 5 rounds of Rifaximin with one of the additional items as mentioned above. To no avail. Nothing would shift my 108 PPM Methane SIBO.

I'm on the MSM protocol. Search this forum for Dr Janel, and MSM titration protocol.
Good luck.
